I have upgraded my headlight bulbs. I find no significant improvement. Some time in the future I will upgrade to to hids. Upon full acceleration my headlights go dim. This is not an ideal time for the headlights to go dim. I assume this is in the custom tune as it shuts off the alternator. How do I reprogram & remove from tune.

I thought the 2004 alternators didn't have that "feature"?

Oh yes they do.
Kinda weird when it happens as they slowly start dimming out when the loud pedal is nailed to the carpet.

Yes, it's in the PCM right from the factory and in aftermarket tunes. I believe WOT TP alternator cutout is @ max (1023), and the alt should turn on in WOT if voltage drops below 13.5. Stock tune. Aftermarket, WOT voltage turn on could be 12.5, 12, whatever it's set for. You can't change it with just the tuner though. You need SCT PRP to get in and change that or have whoever set your tunes up.

Mine drops to 12.2-12.5 when I've gone WOT, I don't notice a dim since I have HIDs.

Ahh I see. I through it was the clutch that caused the dimming but I see it is the PCM now.

Yeah it's not so much fun going full throttle in the dark only to have your viewing distance cut in half.

Aside from chaning the tune, you could replace the alternator pulley with a non-clutched version. Or try getting a new battery or adding a stereo capacitor.
