I don't know what keywords to search for..I know its been answered before but can't find it.

How do u remove the oil/volt gauge pod exactly? Pull down at the back till the clips release and pull forward?

Put shifter in 1st gear. Pull gently from the wings near the back down -- the clips will click and then you can pull it forward and out.

It might seem like you're going to break something - you're not. Just pull each side with even pressure and it will pop. Be careful when removing/re-installing it, as the finish will rub right off.

Ok thanks for the help

I use one of the Scott blue shop towels between the console and the pod for something to protect the console, that paint is delicate. Mine is worn off around the cupholder from the previous owner.

I have extra UA exterior aerosole paint, I'm thinking of using on some of the interior components. I just don't want to look all trashy.

Took the gauge pod out today.. HOLY CRAP! I didn't like that at all. Really felt like I was going to rip the thing apart if I pulled any harder. I took out the bulbs to replace with leds. why are there little blue condoms on the bulbs? Just wondering. I replaced with green. looks much better when I bench tested the light. Now I gotta go see if I can put it back in place without tearing it up.

Ford used blue covers on the incandescent bulbs because yellow + blue = green.

Incandescent light is actually yellow. If you put the blue covers on white LEDs, which are a true color, you would have had blue light in the gauges.

When you're done w/ the re-install, post some PICS BirchMarauder! :)

I would post a pic but it looks exactly like this. Same green and everything. It's awesome.

I went with white LEDs.

Not the best cell phone pic, oil gauge is a real gauge and the volt is still the dummy one so it has the green filter on the gauge face still.
Also took out the green filter for the shifter and sanding off the green on the plastic filtered, then took a red sharpie to the orange indicator.

Does anyone know where I get acquire the metal clips that hold the center pod on either side? And I noticed that I cracked the bottom end of my shift indicator plastic lens thingy near the #1. Dang LEDs are costing me more money than I intended.

Do you know a part number? I called Ford and they couldn't find anything

No I don't.

What happened to yours?

Broke one when I did the initial pull. Is loose on that side as the clip is only half there. Makes plastic rattle noise which is unacceptable.

Yes that's it

This is awesome, now I can take this picture to ford and get new ones and only have to remove the pod one more time.

Local auto parts store should also have them. Just ask where they keep the ford retaining clips or panel fasteners.
