Went to Capital State in Port Allen to fine tune the Meth. They were running TNT.
It was 89* and my first run was soft to focus on the IATs and the effect the new Meth Jet was having. Max IAT was 109*.
60' was 1.875, 12.372@112.19 in full street trim, spare, jack, mats, 3/4 tank etc. A hopped up 5.0 Mustang next to me w/ skinny fronts ran12.294@111.30.
Next run I drop the tire pressure to 18. In the staging lanes I line up next to a 1966 Nova running a 327 w/ Nitrous. She is blue with a racing seat. The owner is adjusting the timing with a timing light. He has MT ET Street radials and I ask him if he drove to the track with them. He said yes and they were no problem.
His name is Tim. The Nova is the first car he bought 25 years ago in HS. I tell him I also drove on the MT ET Streets with no problem.
We are next to each other and we both do a good burn out with lots of smoke. I red lite at -.029 and he also does a - .026. We are neck and neck. I spin out and have to close the throttle with a 60' of 2.022 to his 60' of 2.136. Even spinning out I have pulled ahead.
I continue to pull and the 1/8 I am 8.402 to his 8.762.
I finish the 1/4 at 12.846 to his 13.590.
The ambient was 84* and the max IAT was 104*.
Tim comes over to look at the Marauder. I tell him I am airing up and headed home.
It was fun to drive 90 miles to the track, let the air out and race. Even more fun to only add air and drive home.:)
5 miles down the road I stop at a truck stop. It has been there since the 1940's called Cajun Carnival. I am waiting behind a guy at the register who looks familiar.
He says you run that Mercury. I ask did you run at the track to nite? He says no I am working and getting all the lawnmowers filled up. He says you raced at No Problem. I said yes, 3 years ago you let me pitt for Pinks in your compound.
He is part of a racing team from Gulfport, MS. No Problem is in Belle Rose, LA almost 3 hours from Port Allen. They run 2 identical S10 P/U. They pool their resources.
His name is Byron. I ask if he is racing in Ford vs Chevy in Gulfport next weekend and he says yes. We will see each other there.
The meth is reducing the IATs by 50*.:D
