I can't seem to get the keyless entry to work I see the original code that was on the car then I guess apparently they had it changed to something else but that doesnt work. Now I followed all the steps into trying to put in my own and no luck. Has anyone had this problem before or have any advice, i really don't wanna go to the dealer.

If it was changed the box inside the drivers side door should have the correct code on it.

Yup! Just take the door panel off and you'll see a little box with a white label and 5 numbers on it.

What ^^^^ he ^^^^ said. Sometimes the keypad can be faulty, too.

Oh ok cause they have code on a sticker inside both sides of the front doors. But I'll take the door panel off and try that. Is there away to tell if the key pad is bad or not cause if I hit 1-2 button the interior lights and headlights come on.

I think you answered your own question.

If you hit the last two buttons the doors should lock.

If the visible stickers don't work, they may not have been changed if the control module inside the door was changed. Hopefully you'll have a different / correct code on the control module.

I usually use the fob when unlocking Phoebe, but sometime I need to use the keypad and I have to enter the code multiple times for it to finally unlock. I thought perhaps I was pressing the buttons too fast or that maybe there's a delay time between tries if you enter the wrong number. It always works eventually, but I'm-a try a new pad at some point.

If you opened the drivers side door and saw a 4 digit code on the body to the left, thats not the keypad code.
The code is also on the right hand trunk arm.

My keyless entry code is on the "A" pillar and on the left trunk hinge/arm.

Sometimes an individual number goes bad. On our sable, the 1/2 doesn't always work (if you hit the number with the interior lights off they should come on). I changed the number to skip that.

That would be a bad switch in the keypad.

JUST an FYI..... although there are 8 numbers there are only 4 switches. Each two numbers are one switch.

My 1-2 buttons work and also 8-9 to lock works as well. The code that is inside both front are doors is the same number that was in the maunual then they had a new keyless entry number written on a piece of paper. Tried then both and nothing even followed the the steps in the manual and still nothing.

Either the module is defective(not likely), has been swapped(possible), the keypad defective(possible) or there is a wiring problem(not likely)... I'd start by pulling the door panel to verify the proper code...

The first time you lock your keys in the car at a restaurant, gas pump, etc you'll wish you had the code...

Code locations are hit or miss, those stickers are Placed by the dealer and not The factory. The only place I found my code was on the box itself.

99 percent of the time Its the keypad itself. Just make sure you do have the right code by checking the box

Worst case go to LMQ dealer - they can give you the code. Thats what I did for mine. I think I paid $17 for them to give me the code.

Interesting.

Do you have to have the car present and show proof of ownership?

I assume you would have to prove ownership.

I assume you would have to prove ownership.

Those are my thoughts Jim. (Hope so anyway)

If anything, they could run the VIN providing you have it readily availlable with a picture ID.

;)

Wow! When I first bought mine and went to my FLM dealer, they said $70!!! I said are you sure? Just to read the code??? He punched it up on the service screen and showed me, I said I'll find another way, he smiled and said he would too! Then I read about taking the panel off (no stickers anywhere else btw) and there it was! :D

Cool man. My MM was purchased new and I still have the "Master" code on a small printed out sticker in the event I forget what I programmed in.

Hasn't happened to date (changed it twice)

:D

Yea I have my registration and the insurance policy if I needed at the dealer. I tired the reset option that the manual gives you. I just can't get it 

Let us know how it goes and good luck.

Mine has the code on the passenger side trunk hinge, I believe it's in the same place on my '98 Grand Marquis, my '07 doesn't have a sticker on it anywhere that I can find...

I program the code in all my vehicles that was the factory code on the first Turbo Coupe I owned... Figure I'll never forget that...
