Yes it is, being as how most of us are car people, I would imagine many would like to see a variety of cars.

Plus, by bumping the date up we could bring a lot of Marauder's to the Motor City

I dunno, Detroit's all the way across the state from South Haven, over a three hour drive one way, would be a logistics hassle.

Marauderville III was held at Woodward:) (Before your time)

The Motor City do put on an event each for the dream cruise I have attended a few. Always a good time.

As I am certain I'll be @ MVX, I think I'll combine with the Lake Michigan ferry crossing as I have always wanted to ride it. Same driven miles & distance for me as a direct drive but broken up with a 4 hour cruise complete with restaurant, full bar & entertainment! Call it the Pre-MVX warm up party! :coolman:

Well, it's not like you're gonna be driving up there one day and home the next... ;)

I'm looking at around 12 hours one way from GVL, no big deal for all the fun I know I'm gonna have once I get there.

Leave at 7:00 a.m., be there by 7:00 p.m., NBD, but I'll prolly split it up into a two day trip and enjoy the drive.

A "young" guy like yourself? And one who runs around NYC with a tractor trailer? I would have though a ride in the "country" would be just what the doctor order?

Yes it is! Located on Lake Michigan. Its 2 hours from Chicago and 3 hours from Detroit. Indy is 3.5 hours. You can do NYC in a hard days drive. Atlanta is 14 hours. All drives I have made. Virginia Beach is also 14 hours. St Louis about 8 hours.

Grand Rapids is a good airport to fly into as Kalamazoo is another good one. Both are one hour away.

Are you sure it's 8 hours from St. Louis? Have you driven that route? Google map shows 6 1/2 hours, (390 miles). I guess there must be a slow down around Chicago/Gary. Anyway, map shows 10 hours (609 miles) from Springfield, MO.

I have driven it but when we went we encountered a lot of bad construction. It was for the MV event a couple of years ago. If you remember we also had the big rains just before the event. Lots of screwed up roads around Chicago. Stop at Harry's for breakfast on your way thru Springfield. Not easy to find but a great place to eat. Try one of the pancakes! We wtched a kid try to eat them. He took home the left overs in a 16 inch pizza box!!!!!:pancake:

The drive there is fine, just the 800mile drive home when I know I'll be sitting in hours of traffic into NY has me so against doing these 800 mile drives. Plus MV7, I had car trouble on the way out, MV8 I had car trouble on the way home. Both times I made it home, but I don't like tempting fate being stuck in unknown areas.

I would love to go, but my vacations are funny, I can only take them in the same week (m-f and I have weekends off) but for me to go I would either have to leave a day early or miss a day of work the next week as my vacation days dont go into the next week. Thats the problem I have with such far and exotic locations for MV's. If it was a M-F event I would have no problem....but since its a W-Su event that makes it a bit tough.

I did 19 straight hours from St. Louis back to S.A. for MV6 and that was rough. This would be a 1,300 mile trip and 23 1/2 hours one way. So its a tough call. I hate missing MV's

Hey guys marauders were made to drive!

Don't worry about miles and hours think about the fun factory when you get there:up:

Exactly- -that's what I have been saying--check above^^^^

Here here Jim. It's all about the smiles per miles!!!
---
- Sent from my iPhone
Eaton Swap = Wreeeeeeeeeedom!!

Are we getting the picture--yet?

If I go, it will be by plane and then rent a cool car for the week. Its over 750 miles for me and I'm done making those trek's.

As I have said --rethink it--that's why we have these beauties==and to enjoy the country as well---if something is in need--plan the fix and lets go west bound and down!

we would definitely split up the trip--two days out and two days on the way home:) love to see the countryside.

Again--that what we /most all will do and enjoy a lot !

We'll prolly make another week's vaction for the trip, head out early and spend some time up in Wisconsin with relatives before heading over to South Haven.

You mean you left some up there--???for heavens sake!!

Option A: 14 hours, 7 toll roads.
Option B: Joe says fly to Chicago, ride up with him.
Option C: Don't go.

A is do-able.
B they don't make that much weed.
C not really an option.

Guess I will have to start saving up vaycay days

By now , if reading this , you know what to do--"A"=West bound and down--our new theme!!

\

Sept 12 thru the 16th 2012 :)

Just a few days off from ours last year--great time of the year!!

I dont care how far away it is! I get to hang out with my Pops for a week! :banana2:

SO......you ARE driving your MM --RIGHT! Surely your not gonna let the competition pass you on this MV?????.........

Mike

Once again--another out loud of why I can't make it due to too many miles--Hey y'all that's what the car is for--to drive---yeah I am late in driving mine --but that is the whole concept here--really not necessary to explain why you don't or can't drive that distance----take the time-- if all were to fly--we may not have many MM's--dang!

Thats great Rex! We can go out for some CHEESEBURGERS while you are here!:D

You mean he left some cheese up there when he left???????????

Whats the chances of me being able to sleep knowing you are at the helm? :D

Amy drove mine for the 3rd time ever, to the casino. I cannot tell you how paranoid I was to put her behind the wheel of my car in a convoy of Marauders!! I don't mind if she bangs it up, that's life, but fear of her smashing into someone elses Marauder, I would feel sooooooooooooooooo bad for the other person. Anyway, it went well, some day this week I will go pluck my nails out of the "OH ****" handle.

Well, I did bump the rear of a Linclon LS and I can understand--but the main item is to have our MM 's with us--if not--there is only one half of the event accomplished--the gather of our MM family--with not as many MM's---

ok--carry on--.....

This must be the perfect marauderville for all Canadians, time to make a point of going, i'm gonna make it!

I know i've made some political comments, i call it as i see it. But no more, this is all about the best car i've ever owned and i want to be part of the community that loves them, so, no more of any posts that don't relate to the MM.

I have a wonderfull wife, son and daughter that no doubt make up for my shortcomings, I hope to bring them all to marauderville X, Sept, 10 to 14 2012, see you there!

Is this to be in South Haven?

The Badger is the last large coal burning steamship in the United States:

The S.S. Badger connects the eastern and western segments of U.S. Route 10 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_10), shown here in red.

Michigan has more coastline (3,000 miles) than the entire East coast of the USA.

Minnesota has 10,000 lakes. Michigan has 11,000. It has more lighthouses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lighthouse) than any other state.

When Horace Greeley said "Go West young man", he was speaking of Michigan. It was the wheat-belt of the USA (before the mid-west plains became the wheat-belt). Michigan lumber built Chicago.

The Grand Rapids metropolitan area (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Rapids_metropolitan_area ) in Western Michigan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Michigan) is the fastest-growing metro area in the state, with over 1.3 million residents as of 2006.

Agriculture also serves a significant role making the state a leading grower of fruit in the U.S., including blueberries, cherries, apples, grapes, and peaches. A wide variety of commodity crops, fruits, and vegetables are grown in Michigan, making it second only to California among U.S. states in the diversity of its agriculture.

Michigan has the largest deposits of sand in the world. Michigan is fifty percent forest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest) land, much of it quite remote. Michigan ranks first in the nation in licensed hunters (over one million).

Michigan has the largest state park and state forest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_forest) system of any state.

Thats up nort' from me (Lake Geneva). It does put you close to the SS Badger. I'm thinking I'll combine travelling to MVX with the Lake Michigan SS Badger ferry crossing as I have always wanted to ride it. Same driven miles & distance for me as a direct drive but broken up with a 4 hour cruise complete with restaurant, full bar & entertainment! Maybe we could meet up if you have interest... :)

Actually, that's exactly what I was thinking. We'd like to spend a couple days with family and friends in WI and then take the ferry over to Ludington. It's been 33 years since we've been on the ferry, we took the Badger over to lower Michigan on our honeymoon. I had a custom '77 Ford van at the time and was scared s**tless it was going to get dinged up parked in so tight with other vehicles, but no problems. Would really enjoy making that trip again.

2012 may be the last year for the Badger as the EPA and everyone else is on them about the coal burning and where they dump the ash! They need millions to update the driveline. Ride her while you can. Ludington is about a 2.5 hour ride from South Haven. Longer if you stay along the lakeshore which is a great ride. Stop in all the towns and see the lighthouse in every port. We drive this a couple of times a year and it never gets old.:)

Thats not what I said....For me its the days, I can make the drive, dont care about the milage....heck even if it were a day ealier say Tuesday-Saturday, I wouldnt hesitate......as it is, we have a four person team and when someone goes on vacation we have 168 hours to fill each week, so when one person leaves no one get a day off until thier next regular day off after that person gets back. I really need to go, I feel this MV10 is going to be a huge event, so I will work something out and get there. I am commited to this. I am sure by then I will have enough cash to pay for the trip and if need be miss a couple of extra days of work with out worring about missing the pay.

I just feel I need to be there. I prolly wont have the ol' lady with me as the kids will be in school.

This week, it's time to use your hand for a map, because we're headed off to Michigan, so let's get started...

Michigan became the 26th state on January 26th, 1837, and was originally a penal colony for disloyal Canadians who refused to say "eh?" at the end of every sentence.

If someone from Michigan flips you off, don't be offended. He's probably just trying to tell you to take I-75 to Mackinaw City.

Famous singer Madonna was born in Detroit, Michigan, which may explain why her bras looked like the hubcaps from a '57 Chevy.

Michingan's nickname is the "Wolverine State", even though there are no longer any wolverines in the state. The last Michigan wolverine died in 1872 when it was eaten by a badger while attempting to sneak across the border into Wisconsin.

Rogers City, Michigan boasts the world's largest limestone quarry, which is where Fred Flintstone used to work before he made it big in Hollywood.

Yes, I know Fred Flintstone lived in Bedrock, but he commuted.

Being surrounded by four of the five Great Lakes, Michigan has more bridges than any other state, most of which Ted Kennedy has driven off of at one time or another.

The Detroit Zoo does not keep its animals in cages, because they all know better than to wander the streets of Detroit after dark.

Industrialist Henry Ford was born in Dearborn, Michigan, and invented the assembly line to streamline the process of killing union agitators.

The world's largest crucifix is located in Indian River, Michigan. Requests from the National Endowment for the Arts to dip it in the world's largest jar of urine have so far been ignored.

The Ambassador Bridge connecting Michigan to Canada was built in 1953 and has since been heavily mined to prevent more talentless, hack actors like William Shatner from sneaking into our country.

No matter where you stand in Michigan, you're less than 100 miles from one of the Great Lakes. If you're in Detroit, you're also less than 100 feet from the scene of a violent crime.

Politician Thomas Dewey was born in Owosso, Michigan, and mentored Al Gore in how to lose a close election.

Most snowblowers sold in Michigan are manufactured in Detroit and come with 10-year/100,000 mile warranties.

They usually expire due to mileage.

The state flag of Michigan consists of a dark blue background over which is a lighter blue shield and the motto, "Cold like Wisconsin, but more recognizably hand-shaped".

The name Michigan comes from the Chippewa Indian word "Mishigawa", meaning "half my pocket change is Canadian, eh?"

Rock & Roll legend Ted Nugent was born in Detroit, Michigan, but left the state in 1982 after he ran out of animals to kill there.

Although the Western shore of Michigan has many large sand dunes, it has no camels as they were hunted to extinction by Ted Nugent in 1981.

James Vernor invented Ginger Ale in his Detroit pharmacy. It's one of the most popular drinks in the nation, except in Kansas, where it's regularly outsold by Mary Ann Ale.

Michigan is the only place in the world with a floating post office, which is frequently attacked by disgruntled former employees "going pirate".

Aviator Charles Lindbergh was born in Detroit Michigan. His solo flight across the Atlantic in 1927 was the first recorded instance of an American being glad to arrive in France.

Michigan has more than 11,000 lakes, all of which have - at one time or another - hidden Jimmy Hoffa.

In the 1950's & 60's, the prevalence of Detroit black singing groups created the style of music known as "Motown". Since the advent of rap, it's been called "Mofotown".

In 1929, The Michigan State Police established the world's first police radio system after inventing the chocolate glazed radio receiver.

The state reptile of Michigan is the Painted Turtle, or - as the natives refer to it - the Crunchy Speed Bump.

I have to make it out to a Marauderville one of these days. I was very tempted when it was in Indy since I'm originally from there but I was in the middle of getting layoffed at the time.

How the H3LL did you arrive at that time?? You planning on driving the whole trip at 50 MPH? You should be able to knock that 16 hour one-way down to 14 hours easily. Think that I could make it in 12 or under. That's a long day; but it can be done in the MM.

I know it's hard to believe, but my DTR can and DOES go faster than 50 MPH;)

Come'on Slickster, try to plan for MV X!!!!!

Ya, 678 miles 1 way, I could do in 9.75 hours + 1 hour refuling/pit stops = 10.75. Round to 11 for good luck! Or a big push 1st day stop & relax and finish last few hours next morning. Easy-Peezy!!! :D

I think this year we're looking at doing the road course vs drag strip.

I think the schedule's still being firmed up, but John and his team have some good stuff in the works, should be a great event.

No drag racing! All efforts will be on the road course at Gingerman which is 5 miles from the hotel.

Now I'm afraid to go to John's Stereo. I picture a long walk off a short pier, with cement overshoes. Or a shoot-to-kill bounty with the Michigan State Police. All for being uppity with mayor McCheese.

Just try to stop us from going to the US131 track. I know all the back roads.
