Need info on your Marauder.

If 04 or an 03 w/ traction control, you need to maintain the staggered tire size.
If 03, with no traction control, it should not hurt ...

2004 Marauders need an approximate 3% difference in tire size between the front and rear tires so the traction control doesn't complain.

Most 2003 Marauders had no traction control so you can run any size that will fit.

You can use this web app to see the differences in tire sizes

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

245/45-18 is about 26.7" in diameter
245/55-18 is about 28.6" in diameter

The 245/45-18 is a hair over half an inch smaller in diameter than the stock 235/50-18 front tire. You should run a little higher psi in the tire to ensure it stays firm cause it's not going to have a lot of sidewall meat to absorb hard bumps or pot holes (which you should avoid anyways). You should also look into getting the carfixer alignment done which will help ensure even tread wear across the tire. Stock alignment is geared more towards performance handling but at the cost of where it can chew up the inside of the tire tread and leave the middle and outboard tread in great shape and then the tire needs to be replaced.

Check the recommended tire pressure listed on the drivers door jamb. 44 seems high. Thirty five psi would be my guess.

I run 255/45's at 38psi on the front - nice handling/wear.

I had that size on the front of my MM............briefly. They were too low profile for my MM's front deflector in parking lots.
