I have an 03 MM that in march I put a Cobra Long block in (thanks to all that had great input). I purchased 2 years ago with a bad motor and a need of a paint job.
Pros:
New Long Block Cobra Motor (4K miles on motor)
125K miles on car as a whole
underneath of car looks like never saw gravel
interior very good shape, one mark on passenger seat, but think it is cleanable (detailing later this week)
4 new tires Goodyear
Body really straight, one dent on trunk lid (small) and one on back side on back door up high (looks like someone leaned way to hard on it) but that one is not even noticable unless you really look for it.
no mods installed on car other than Cobra motor
Was originally owned by older gentleman that just liked the seats and had no idea what it was, passed away and I bought it from his daughter.
Bad:
paint blistered bad on roof and starting on hood
Low compression Cobra motor, no SC yet.
not any other mods. installed
I could paint it ($4-5K) I won't do a cheap paint job. I could install the SC on it then sell it.
All these things most of us want to be a part of and do ourselves or pick the parts out and have them done....
So, my question is, sell it as is or paint and ask more?
also, what is a reasonable price for this car the way it sits....
thanks in advance...
Roger

If it were me buying it, 4-5k(without seeing it, maybe more, maybe less), it's still a 125k car, meaning all the suspension, seats, exhaust, door hinges, steering gear have those miles on them. Even though it has a low mile motor, on an auction block or internet sale, that won't matter.
5k for a paint job is pretty cheap anymore, lots of man hours to strip to bare metal and disassemble the car, plus all the blocking that will come with making a black car look 10 miles deep.
I would say, if you could, to paint it and keep it for yourself, get some enjoyment out of it instead of giving it away.
That's just my 4.6 cents worth.

Certain cars are worth keeping because of limited production. I know of very few people that have profited from projects [unless they owned a body and engine shop with a [dealers license ]. If you do the projected math U will be within a few Gran if U sell and by a TURN KEY or make yours to IMPROVED SPECS. " HAPPY MARAUDERING "

How much you asking for the car ?
That's what the OP was asking. Spectragod's thinking it's worth $4 - $5k as is.

Id say thats to low! The only real problem with the car is the paint. So it has a 120,000 on it thats nothing. As for the motor its a brand spanking new Termi LB, With labor & cost of LB is what 4500+. This would be a great car for someone looking to do a Eaton swap with upgrade to a whipple. Or a centri blower with high boost.

Unless you want something that looks nice, then it's another 5k for paint.
You would have the same problem with paint that I would...... nothing, I can source it, been in the business too long to not have contacts and favors owed, but most people don't.
You can't take miles and wear off, the car is a fixer upper if it needs an overall paint job, even more so if it needs a drive train. How much do you think it would bring if you ran it through the auction? I can tell you.... 2.5k-3k, tops, all day long, been there, seen it happen.

I dont think anyone here would run a MM through an auction!!!! Would have to be truly desperate. Bodyman hit the number right on, I am still babying the motor from the Cobra swap, havent even tuned it yet. Did the swap in march, drove it to KC once, STL once. If what you guys say is that its not worth more that $4-5K than its worth more to me to just paint and do a few low $ mods. drive my investment out of it. I am just not where I want to be financially to do what I want and be able to make it a sunny day driver.
Wait, got another option, got 3 boys need advise on how much I can sell them for? will posts pics if it will help..... lol....... (BTW, dont show my kids this, they would think I was serious...)

I understand what youre saying for sure. My point was more so the fact it has a brand spanking new Termi LB & as for the mileage you see a bunch of MM's with that kinda miles going for a decent price & with a stock motor. However youre point on the paint is pretty much spot on, If someone goes to a reputable shop off the steet & gets a bid for strip and refinish complete it would be around5-6k. Also I wander how the paint on sides is? Is the issue only on the top surfaces were you could maybe get away with just doing the flat panels. As for myself if I was looking for one to build?? On the simple fact now I know I got a motor that can make some power

Not people on this board, but I have seen Marauders go through both the dealer & salvage auctions. To some people, it is just a car.
You have the right idea, paint the bad panels, drive and enjoy it.
I may consider 1 or 2 boys, but they have to be able to do yard work, clean gutters, paint, if they were good at roofing, that would be a bonus. J/K:D
Glad your keeping your car.

Side panels all very good shape. only issues are the top and it is starting on the hood and trunk lid. Just hate the thought of what I consider a half ***ed paint job (not how I like to do things...) and I have contacts, but to do the paint job right, it will take a lot of labor...

You don't need to paint the whole car to make it look nice. Just paint the roof and hood. My car has had the repairs done to the paint and it looks really nice. Nowhere near $5K. 120k miles? Big deal. Mine has 130k and it's a cream puff. I would say the car is worth 10-11k with the new motor you installed.
