Washed the MM today....needed to after the trek up (in the rain) and back for MV9. Weather was warm and sunny on drive back, so front bumper doubled as bug-catcher, then a day and a half of rain at home....finally a sunny day here today, which showed how nasty my poor MM had gotten. :(
Anyway, after washing, used m-f towels to dry and noticed fuzzies here and there. Just wondering if there's a brand out there you guys use that don't seem to leave 'little critters' behind. I don't know what mine are...won them at the BOC back in May.
Thanks...........
They should stop after a couple washings. The only ones that WON'T are those stupid yellow shamwow mother****ing son of a bitches. **** ****ers leave yellow strands of **** fibers all over.

I don't have that problem and I use mf towels from Wally World, FLAPS, Dollar General, etc.
Wash them separately, use NO fabric softener, and dry in the dryer......

What^^He^^^Said!
Mike.
Sorry, that was uncalled for. But it is true. They may be great for soaking up 2 gallons of dog piss from your carpet with only mild pressure from the side of your dogs head as you press down with your boot, and yeah they tend to soak up baby oil and champagne from your king sized memory foam matress (her side, of course!) with ease, but they leave yellow fibers all over the car.

Did I mention I don't think the yellow shamwow towels are worth a crap when concerning automobile drying? They shed like a cat, but at least when you twist up a cat when you are mad at it, the cat knows you are not happy about something. The shamwow acknowledges your frustration by emitting MORE yellow fibers!!! Maybe I just got a bad batch of them I got the cheap Chinese knock-off. I got the shamfuzzywetdrytimefunwow. :(

I've got a bunch of microfiber towels from Russ with Croftgate product purchases, and they work great.

A quick spray and wipe off of Ice Detailer after drying the car prevents the bugs from sticking to the front end. I just blast them off with the hose next wash. +1 on the Croftgate towels, excellent.

I am moving away from Mf towels for many tasks, I have some very high end towels and if you look closely and your finish was very good to start with the MF towels with very few exceptions you will see micromarring.
I am back to 100% white US made cotton towels with the borders cut off for a lot and the Zaino border free towels for polishing and Qding.

Thanks, rayjay. Last Friday I 'stumbled' across a small bottle of that stuff in a goodie bag I got from the BOC earlier this year. Will give it a try...after I chisel all the bug guts off first.
Had my MM lookin' sweet this past weekend. Went to Asheville to see my kids. Got a LOT of head-turns when we took a short drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway on Sunday. Was a beatiful day and the colors were amazing. I took a mess of pics and will be posting them in the Carolina Marauders section soon....

The issues you had with MF towels could be from using 80/20 ones instead of 70/30.
I have started using these and they are superior to what you can pick up locally at your FLAPS.

I only use them for polishing and cleaning non painted surfaces. Some MF will strip wax and scratch.
Some use a MF to buff wax not knowing they are removing all the wax.
MFs come in a large variety and are for the most part an unknown.
What is known is 100% Cotton made in USA will not strip wax or scratch your car.

Exactly,
The MF towels I had been using were $8-$30 each. Not cheapy from FLAPS or Costco.
Cotton is where it's at.
I do use a Sonus brand waffle weave drying towel but I don't slide it across the finish at all only blotting.

You dry the car with leaf blower.

After washing the MM, I only use "The Absorber" to dry the car. Microfiber towels are only used for polishing and Icing the car. I get bundles of 6 from Autozone. FreddieH also gave me a stack of 10 at Carlisle this year. I have a boatload of MF towels in the trunk organizer. And, have never had the problem mentioned ^^^^ above. Must only apply when the MF towels are wet. BTW -- it took me a couple reads to figure out that MF meant "microfiber".

Yeah, uh...ummm, I wouldn't fall asleep in Jim's presence there Casey.
I use the microfiber towels from Griot's garage. Never have lint...just in my bellybutton...which is handy for starting fires if lost in the woods.

You are a sick, sick man. Which means you are pretty much home here. Perhaps if you save up yer lint, you can make your own Mother Fu...I mean Micro Fibre towels. Wait, is it fibre or fiber?
