That's right my never raced MM is no longer a virgin, after a two year abstinence from drag racing, I headed off to the track and am very happy with the results...
I won street class!!!
Our local track is a 1/8mi so some may have a hard time relating to my times... On my practice passes I ran 8.47 & 8.41 with a best 60ft of 1.87, this is on the stock BFGs out back with 23psi...
On the First elimination run I lined up with a older Lexus dialed at 9.89 while I dialed a 8.38(that I never changed)... Well the old man screwed the pooch and blew the tires off netting a 2.21 short time, no way I was gonna catch him... But wait... They have 1st or 2nd round buybacks so I anti up the $15 and am issued a reprieve...
Second run, I'm paired with a '80 Vette that dialed a 8.40 and I'm at 8.38 so basically it was a heads up run... He had a horrible reaction time and I drove off and left him, wining with a on the brakes 8.52, 60ft was 1.91(was considerably more conservative on launch than 1st run)...
Third run I draw the Lexus again, this time he dialed 9.83 so have to spot him 1.45 seconds, he launches and I give chase... Interestingly we have identical .1863 reaction times so there is no starting line advantage... I pass him on the top end and run a on the brakes 8.46 to his way off 10.01, my short time picked up to 1.89...
Forth run I'm paired with a stock '97 4.6 Stang that's dialed 9.47, he has a .1195 reaction time but I slap him with a .0348, drive around him on the big end and run a 8.42, again on the brakes(another 1.89 60ft)...
Well that's it, the class only had five cars(eight if you consider the buybacks), but none the less I'm happy with the $150 I won...
Hopefully the track will throw up the class winners pictures(yes they took my pict) on their website, I'll post a link if they do...
