Visting a Marauder in NJ

Hello all, I will be checking out a 2003 black Marauder today. The car has 100,170 miles, was wondering is there anything specific to check for on the car? thanks for the help in advance. and sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Check rear axles from leakage...trans shifts...correct larger size rear tires compared to the fronts...paint as MM's paint is crappy to begin with... All I can think of off top of my head.

So i check out the car, and notice the check engine light was on and the ac wouldn't turn on, I ask what was wrong and I was told this. Ford vehicles if its already cold the ac will not come on? I looked at him and a friend hat was with me and just looked away? Now my questions is this sounds like bull but to be positive can a person explain how the ac in a marauder works?

You should hear a click when the compressor kicks on. Turn the auto setting as hot as it will go, which is hot enough to raise temperature inside car. Let that run for a good while, then put temperature control to lowest setting. The A/C should cycle on. It will also come on with the defroster selected.

that happen in my crown vic a few years back it's a wire that is cut or need's replacing

Sounds like it could be the EATC, easy fix, was it just blowing defrost and floor?
Check to see that the cruise is working ( it won't light up on the Dash)
Check the Headlights to make sure the LCM is working

The air wouldn't cut on at all no matter what. Lights didn't even come on

How can they sell a car that doesn't meet minimum safety requirements?

First thing Id do is check all the fuses and circuit breakers inside the car and under the hood.

In most modern cars the A/C will come on when you tell it to. It will also come on when you are using heat / defrost to take moisture out of the air inside the car.

Try this, start the car turn the automatic temp control to the lowest setting, fan on hiigh. the A?C should come on. If it doesn't look under the hood, on the right side / passenger side locate the A/C compressor. It's mounted on the front of the engine way down low. There should be a belt on it. The clutch on the front of the compressor should be turning.... not just the pulley where the belt rides but the whole assembly. If it isn't turning and you have all the other problems you might want to look elsewhere.

At least get the VIN and run a Carfax.

BlkZoom, in the trunk there should be a spare tire on that top shelf and there should also be a rectangle box (subwoofer) up there. I'd point that out to the dealer. Between that, the "check engine" light, the a/c issue, and the lights ("no lights at all"?!?!)...if you really wanted this 1, after checking Carfax and/or Oasis, I'd offer $7k. Those things could add up (especially the "check engine"!).

Not with all those problems I was kind of thrown off when the ac didn't come on at all. plus there was a crack on the back bumper like it was it and it seems has if the paint started cracking in a bunch of directions.

Thanks for all the help you guys, Ill be looking at another in the morning its a 2003 with about 80,000+ miles Ill let you know how it goes
