Our 2003 Ford Escape has an oil leak. 3.0 DOHC V6. It's most likely the front cover leaking. They are know for that. Expensive fix. Our daughter's drive it back and forth to school. Probably 3 miles per day. I can't justify fixing it. Has anyone had any luck with oil stop leak treatments and if so, what product did you use? Thanks, Curt

I wouldn't do it and this is why..
Stop leak works by plugging holes or swelling seals.
If it plugs a hole it might plug small oil passages doing more damage.

Thanks for the info. How about Valvoline High Mileage oil?
High mileage motor oil is designed to extend the life of higher mileage vehicles. If you drive an above-average amount of miles in your vehicle, your engine requires a special formula that is found in high mileage oil that helps fight the four major causes of engine breakdown – leaks, deposits, sludge and friction. Engine breakdown is a greater risk when you demand more from your engine. Higher mileage motor oil lasts longer and provides your engine with the added protection it needs so you can keep your engine running smoothly.
6 cylinder escapes are known for oil leaks at the lower oil pan gasket. Idk if this is your problem but if it is. Its fairly easy to do.. Takes about 1.5-2 hours if u r working off your back.

Just keep putting oil in it. Think back to the 1960's, 1970's and pre Evolution II Harleys.
VW and Prosches constantly leaked oil from the push rod tubes. Everyone that owned a Harley had a drip pan under it in the garage.
Just put a "Save the Whales" bumper sticker on and then you made your carbon foot print offfset.:beatnik:

The bottom of the oil pan always has a coat of oil on it. A few months ago, I cleaned everything around the area and couldn't see where it was leaking. A friend of mine had a similiar issue, but his was the front cover leaking. He had the local Ford dealer fix it. Very expensive fix. So that's why I assumed it was the front cover since I couldn't see any leaks around the pan gasket.
