Starting at 45,000 OBO

Some of you may remember the other post about this car I resurrected today.
I spent some time with this car last year, got it running, did a punch out list and then talked to the owner about what it's worth in todays market.
She was convinced it should be worth over 50K and I'm sure in time it will be.
I spent some phone time with Galen Govier of the GTS Chrysler registry and with the numbers I was able to provide it appears to be a numbers matching car.
It is one of 178 built in 1971 and one of 38 known to exist in the United States. According to GTS it is the only one left with original paint.
The owner is handling it through the estate of her late brother.
I don't have an exact price for the car but all offers will be considered.
The car is in Phoenix, the fuel is stabilized, the oil is fresh and it needs very little to be a driver.
I am posting a link to the Photobucket album with pictures and video.
PM or call me @ 305 395 1960

Immediate needs,
Carb job
Transmission seal
Valve Cover Gaskets
Mufflers.
A driver :)

What's the story with the fender tag being painted black?

It's too bad the car isn't a high impact/more desirable color combination.
Were it a red/yellow/black/blue on black 4 speed car it would be worth quite a bit IMO.
As it is, if everything checks out I'd peg it in the 35-40k range depending on the condition of the undercarriage.

Couldn't tell you about the fender tag, the fella that owned it last is no longer with us. There are a few questions I would like to ask him.
Russo and Steele told me 45 should be easy at auction, 50 on a good day.
Like I said best offer, it's gotta go by Dec 31.

Off topic Gary, but this car is a trip down memory lane for me..... Bud of mine in High school had a bluish/purple 71 383 slapstick...... We were racing another friend with a 71-73 Camaro down rte. 290 in central MA when the Charger's rear U joint bit the dust....... I was a passenger in the Charger...What a weird experience  the clanking off the floor boards, the sparks out the back ect...

Thanks for the memories:D

In HS a friends family owned a Dodge dealership and we would get our hands on the repo Chargers. Every weekend we took them apart and put them back together to make them faster. Some we did and some we did not.

The Dealership had it's own performance package and graphics that it put on Dusters.

My favorite was a 1972 440 Magnum Charger with the SE trim. It was Yellow with a white leather interior.:)

Today he owns a ~1961 Impala 409 4 speed dual 4 barrel carbs that he let me drive.:D

That tag is going to scare people off. Too many cars being 'built to order' with new tags. The build sheet will help offset that to an extent and is a big plus.

Has Galen documented the car?

Put it on Moparts and http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/.
You'll get to your target audience there and it will go to someone who will appreciate it for what it is as the previous owner did rather than the idiot with the biggest checkbook.
Don't believe a word that auction houses are passing right now, the market for muscle cars and other expensive toys is incredibly soft.
I watched a real, #'s matching 71 hemicuda, 4 speed shaker car go for just over 100k a few weeks back. A few years ago that car wouldn't have been touched for 2-3x the price.
Owner got stung by being convinced by the house it'd go for big bucks and he should drop the reserve to increase interest. Ended up losing his butt on the car.
Immaculate 68-70 4 speed Charger R/T's and GTX's are going for mid-high 30's. They're more desirable than this car. I stand by my high 30's - low 40's.
Target audience sites are your best bet to get this car in to the appropriate hands in the given timeframe.

I do have the build sheet.
Galen didn't document the car, it's an $1800 ticket to do so, I sent Galen faxed copy of the build sheet, and pictures of the fender tag and the door tag.
Galen and I spent a good 1/2 hour on the phone and we discussed the car in great detail, everything matches as far as he could tell from the build sheet, fender tag and door sticker. the only thing not accounted for was the cassette deck on the console which was a dealer installed option.
The phone conversations (2) with Galen alone was north of $300.
This car belongs to a close friend of mine. it was her late brothers, she hasn't a clue about the car and asked me about it. It seems one of her late brother's friends was trying to low ball her at 13K and I said no way.

Seriously folks make an offer. this car is part of an estate. She wants to get rid of it by 1/1/12.

If I was going to build one of these to order I would have made it a four speed and a much more desirable color.
It would be kind of like making a counterfeit 5 dollar bill instead of a 20 or 100.

I have a Blue MM that I would do some trading on. LOL

Seriously, there is a place here in town called Streetside Classics that does a brisk consignment business.
