As most of you may know from my welcome thread, I was going to look at a fully cloned 04' CV with only 77k on it.
The guys just dicking me around, he never gave me an address the other day to come look at and then after a good hour of talking he decided we would meet today at 10am and I had an address. It was 70 miles away so needless to say, I wasn't leaving without hearing from him. I woke up at 8, texted him and said I'm ready to walk out the door, are we still meeting at 8?
No response. I text again saying that this is a 70m, hour and 15 minute drive and im not leaving until you let me know your for sure gonna be there.
20 minutes later I get a response, "at wrk imma call ASAP jus waitin to go on break"
As you can imagine, it's 1pm now and he still hasn't called. I'm absolutely furious but I give up on the car. He had it FULLY cloned from the exterior to the interior. Even had remote start and whatnot like I was gonna do anyways.
Long story short, unless this *****er comes to me, he lost the sale. I'm just gonna look for a CV like I planned before and slowly co nevertheless it I guess.
My question, is how much do the spoilers run, and where's the best place to get them? Same with the bumpers...
Thanks guys.

You can get a spoiler from Sparta Performance, one of the site vendors, $199.99
https://ssl111.webhosting.optonline.ne t/spartaperformance.com/merchantmanager/product_info.php?products_id=1 98
Bumper covers are no longer being made, IF you can find an OEM front or rear bumper cover, they're around $500 -$600 each.

New OEM bumper covers are much higher than that buddy.
Just sayin...

That's definitely not what I wanted to hear :@
Thanks for the quick reply though...I'm just wondering how the hell to deal with this guy still. For 4000$ only 77k miles and every single marauder piece, it's unbeatable.

It doesn't sound right to me, and would tread cautiously if you proceed forward.
If it seems too good to be true, well, it usually is.
Tell him, he either wants to sell the car, or he doesn't.
Good luck!

You are either a slow learner or a glutton for punishment. JMHO. Pick one. I think that you are being taken for a ride and you keep putting quarters in box. ;)

Hey now, I havent put a penny in the box :)
But I really just cant make up my mind. Ive contacted about 3 more Crown Vics, one had some really nice 22's, was all black, had the MM spoiler, dual exhausts and whatnot. Asking like 6500$, but when I texted the guy, he said it had 160,000 and the least he would take was 4800$ which is too much for that mileage IMO.
The other 2 havent replied yet.
Another question, since the people selling REAL MM's seem to be motivated sellers who have good communucation and people skills, is a Marauder considered a sports car? (I cant see any reason why it wouldnt be, but if it isnt, then im ready to say screw it, and get a bit of a bigger loan and just get one)

.... is a Marauder considered a sports car?
No, it's a 4200 pound 4-door sedan. :D In fact, the 2003 Marauder is listed everywhere as a "Grand Marquis" due to the M75 in the VIN. It wasn't until 2004 that it got its own M79 designation as a Marauder. Insurance companies are generally savvy enough to pick up the "engine" digit in the VIN and classify it as a performance vehicle.

If it is considered a Sports car/High performance, etc, insurance will be over 300$ a month for me! I cannot afford that on top of paying the loan back!

I know my MM is cheap to insure, GM like, guess mine didn't pick up on it, good to know as my insurance company is a keeper now!

This guy wants to trade, and I was interested up until he told me it still has the cop interior:

First thing the sticker would come off. Then id buff the hell out of the paint, then tint the windows.
(Thats if it wasnt a P71. I figured it was, because of the wheels, but I had hoped the interior was normal. I hate the rubber flooring, holes in the dash, "ticket" dome light, horribly ugly cloth seats with the open space between, and so on and so fourth.)

As far as bumper covers, Steve Babcock is checking on availability of OEM. He is out until Monday. Once I hear from him I will post up in a new thread. I also asked him to check on the leather covers for the seats. Keep your fingers crossed!!

Get an insurance quote. When I got my insurance they asked what trim level I had, I said LS. lol
Get the MM. You can find one cheap but it most likely will have higher miles.
Don't let that scare you, this platform can go 300K easily.

Nice! (Im still looking for both, I mean if I can score a MM for around 4-5, ill hop right on that, but I cant spend any more)
It scares me though, because my first time really looking for Marauders, 80% of the CL ads, have something basically like "Car has 85,000, new engine put in last year, new trans" etc. I mean why do literally more than half of them under 100,000 miles have new engines!?
01LXHPP
10-31-2011, 03:38 PM
if they were 03 300A's, it might have something to do with the head tick and the smoke at start up. 4v's go way past 80k miles, a couple of people on here have MM's with stock engine/transmissions into the 200k range
BTW, did you fix that bumper on your limited yet?

Going to look at a beast tomorrow! 2003, 58k miles, motor from an 06 Mustang GT, built trans and rear end.
Fully cloned inside and out, full dual flow master exhaust and this guy has never had it scharged, it doesn't have a "chip" :D, and it's CLEAN AS HELL!

Got ahold of him today and asked some more questions, he says it runs and drives great, the only problem is that the drivers door sags a TINY bit. He said its less than 1/4 inch, and you just have to pull up a bit when you close it. He put Marauder doors on the thing even! I asked him if its a problem with something being bent, or is it just misaligned, he says just misaligned.
Im hoping he'll take about 4200$ for it, thats all ill have!

Any CV owners; do the police interceptors have "P71" in the VIN?

Any CV owners; do the police interceptors have "P71" in the VIN?
All Crown Victorias are P something. Up until I'd say about 09 or 10, they were
P70 - Extended wheel base taxi
P71 - Police Interceptor
P72 - Taxi / fleet
P73 - base
P74 - LX
P75 - touring sedan (this was a 92, one year only car)
And yes that is in the vin. In 09 or 10, I think it was 10, they changed to like P7B and stuff, I don't know the letters all I remember is B is one of them.
Grand marquis is M75 (including 03 marauder)
04 marauder is M79
Towncar is M81/82/83, don't know what those decode to....
You can see what the car is just by reading the vin
A crown vic would be something like 2FAFP7-
A Grand Marquis or Marauder would be something like 2MMHM- or 2MHHM79 for my marauder.

Yea, I'm on my way back home now from checking it out...
It ran and drove great, those 20s gotta go, they're wide as hell.
It definitely needs a little work, but I offered him 4000$ and he said he would do 4000$ for it.
The cluster has a marauder speedo in it, but it bounces a lot, the front bumper is sagging a little but I'm sure that's an easy fix, just unbolt it and align it right? The trunklid didn't stay open on its own, and the automated gauges weren't hooked up. it also needs a new steering column cover, this one is still the one with the column shifter hole in it.
It ran and drove smooth as hell though,
