I need to replace a left lower ball joint on my '04 MGM. For you guys that have cut your front coils or done other suspension work, is replacing the lower control arm just a matter of compressing the coil and unbolting the control arm from the damper, crossmember, and spindle, or is there more to it? Just looking for any tips that might help.
I'm debating removing the control arm and having a shop press a new ball joint on my existing control arm or replacing the whole control arm.

Unbolt the spindle from the lower, and press in a new ball joint, but, if 1's bad, all the rest are probably right behind it.

No need to compress the spring the shock keeps it captive.

Whatever you do, do not buy mevotech ballpoints. Their control arms are excellent but their ballpoints do not seem to fit properly. Moog ball joints are very good and easy to replace.
