View Full Version : New FR Springs/Shocks/UPR Control Arms - car sits higher?!?

Greetings,
I just finished replacing my FR shocks (w/ KYB), springs (stock from Rock Auto), and Upper Control Arms (Raybestos from Rock Auto) and the front of the car seems to sit up higher than it did by 1"+.

I had the front of the car supported by the frame but I did jack up each corner to put the full weight on the springs prior to tightening the upper control arms - per the shop manual - so that's probably not the issue.

I did have one broken spring (about 1/2 a loop) so it was probably sitting a little low to start with...

I had previously adjusted the rear height to get the car level to the ground so it looks a little strange now.

Will these springs sag a little in time or do I need to readjust the rear for the new front height?

THANKS!

On a side note, the 'pop' I'm trying to eliminate is still there.... Lower Arm R&R is probably next.

Most springs will settle a little bit once you drive it around. Is it possible the springs you took out had been cut or previously replaced with Eibach, base or HPP springs to lower the car?

No, I'm the 2nd owner and the first owner didn't replace the springs. they still had the factory labels on them too.

Thanks for the reply.

Wait a couple weeks. It should go down.

Give her a trip around the block to let her settle down.

You probably tightened the control arms with the assembly at the lowest position and the bushings are holding the car up. I like to jack the control arms up so there's weight on the springs before I tighten things up.

Should have read your first post better. You did it right. It may just take time to settle like the others said.
