I finally got my jacket card tonight after 6 weeks. As I read it, I noticed a line about our cars being "limited production." Do any of you think that these cars will command a good price in the comming years? Look how much a 90's Impala SS brings. Who knows, but I have saved everything I have gotten with the car. The sales brochure, poster, DVD, window sticker (even though the dealer tossed it in the dumpster... I made them fetch it,) bill of sale, books and even the jacket card. I can't say if I'll ever sell the Marauder, but it would be a nice collectable don't you think?

Maybe a collector item if, you have low low low miles on it in about 30-40 years from now, in stock condition, have all paper work, org. paint(sometimes the imperfections are a good thing) org. tires, you know the rest.

If you think about it every car made is "limited production" They are going to build only so many of each one:)

I just know that 10+ years I still plan on have my Marauder:):):)

I have also stored my Marauder stuff in the jacket box. I even bought an extra Leather Jacket off Ebay. I have most of the promotional products with the exception of the hat. :D

I can see the purpose of saving all sales materials on this or any vehicle. However I wouldn't consider any vehicle an investment unless its an exotic. Cars are meant to be driven so enjoy and who knows in the future someone may pay a higher price if your ride is clean and with lower than average miles.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. Mine is a classic and a collector car, hot rod, daliy driver, etc. I like it alot. I would however sell it for the right price. Too bad for the enthusiast who wants it the price starts around $250,000. That being said, I don't think paying nearly sticker price for it was so bad.

I think mint original examples will have collector value in the future. Daily drivers probably will not.....Who knows, 20 years from now V8 engines and rear wheel drive may be long gone.

Does any one else have the card board shipping protectors for the exhaust tips? I do.

Will they be collector's items?

My answer is a big NO. At the end of a 2 or 3 year production run there will be 20,000 or more running around. Even though the numbers look low, it's still a mass production vehicle.

On the other hand, maybe people won't learn from the mistakes made in the past. Many years ago very few people had foresight enough to buy a Daytona, Shelby GT500 Mustang or a 1970 Charger R/T and garage them for 35 years, anticipating the value to exceed $50,000 to $100,000 each. If people don't preserve, restore or take care of the recent Marauders, they could bring some big money in the year 2040. :)

I would suspect 99.5% were pulled off and tossed in the dumpster as the dealers cleaned and prepped the cars. :mad2:

20 years from now there may not be any fuel for cars no matter what engine size. We need to look for alternative fuel sources quicker than most people realize.

first year run was only around 7,000 vehicles, I doubt if they will sell 13.000
'04s.
But your point is well taken.

I know mine won't be a collectors item. I wish it could be. I have 15K on it in less than a year. It is supposed to snow and sleet here on Monday and as much as I hate to.....the MM will go through it  . I have my cop car looking winter tires on it with no wheel covers. I love that car too much to not drive it, plus if I wanted to buy a car just to drive in the winter.....my wife would make me live in it.....

I don't care if it does or doesn't become a collectors car. I know that down the road people will look at this car and say "damn, what a nice car". I know that 10-15 yrs from now when I drive the dream cruise it will still get a lot of attention. There are a lot of old cars that won't become so called "collector items" but are still some of the baddest rides out there. This may be one of them. That is enough for me.

I echo some of the other posts above.
I got my MM for the long haul - 7 year 100,000 mile extended warranty.
I bought it because I loved the look of it, the sound of it and the concept behind creating a big ass V8 rwd in a wasteland littered with over-revved 4 cylinder anonymously boring boxes.
Couldn't care less if it becomes a collectors car.

Too give you a few #'s from Ford in 2003 their were 7839 Mercury Marauders built. 7098 were Black,417 were Silver and 328 were Blue. The ones built in Late 2002 I dont have those #'s. Their is no numbers on how many Ford plans to Build in 2004 yet but I know that the State police are now ordering them in Florida for High way cars so I would say that 20,000 cars totle built by the end of 2004 is realistic.

I don't think it will attain cult status like a 57 BelAir convert, 57 TBird, Z-28, Hemi Cuda, or Boss 302, but it will definitely gain more interest after the 25 year magic "classic" mark than a regular GM/CV or Asian four door.

DITTO!!! I want to wear this one out. I like the "get up and get after it" that this car has.......plus it doesn't look like everybody else's Camry or Accord.

I also have a '94 T-Bird Supercoupe that is like the Marauder as a "Low Production Vehicle". Only made about 48,000 units in the entire run ('89-'96). And if you check any used car listings, they haven' increased.http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif :banana2:

They may or may not become 'collectible', but they will always be distinctive. That's why I wanted one; to be different and drive something that would stand out. The Marauder does that in spades (at least the black ones ;))
