I made a mistake when I replaced my brakes about a year ago and went with ceramic pads f&r w/ new standard rotors. I am very unhappy with the way they perform and I plan to redo them as soon as I decide the best path to go. Advice or recommendations? Do I want want multi-piston calipers, slotted and drilled rotors? What will make this beast halt when I say halt? :help:

BTW, I did need to replace my vacuum canister this year. It helped, but pedal pressure is still alot more than my 1999 Crown Vic. I heard somewhere Ford had a problem with these around 2004...

They do make stainless steel brake lines for the Marauder. It doesn't help the actual braking but it will increase the brake pedal pressure. Two vendors here sell the brake lines.

I replaced my brakes with OEM stuff cause it was cheaper at that time. If I replace stuff again I will go with cryo treated PowerSlot slotted rotors matched with Hawk HPS pads.

I stayed with my stock calipers....powerslot rotors and HPS pads....they stop great....I will also be adding the SS lines....I already have them but have yet to put them on.

If you want the beast to stop when you say stop the only way to go IMHO is with a TCE big brake upgrade. It's pricey, but your Marauder will stop on a dime and give you $0.09 change.

You can upgrade the stock system with stainless steel braided lines. Contact these guys http://www.knsbrakes.com/ for options.

To the best of my knowledge there has never been a Ford TSB about the vacuum canister on the late model panther platform.

I bought the 13" Wilwood kit from TCE. Along with SS lines on all four corners.

For the rear. I bought R1 Concepts rotors and Napas top of the line rear pads.

And all new fluid.

My Marauder stops awesome!!! Brake pedal feel is really nice. No spongy feel. Very very firm. (Thats what she said!!)

If the price of admission for a big brake kit is past your budget, I did Raybestos slotted on all four corners with Severe duty pads. Full flush and cleaned and lubed the slides.
Best four hundred ever spent, Three times to the track since, and no warping! :banana2:

I would keep what you have and flush the brake fluid.

I replaced the pads on mine with Porterfield R4S. The bedding procedure following the installation of new pads is the most critical step in achieving the best braking performance from your new pads.

I hit the rotors with a Roloc disk before installing the pads to remove as much of the old pad material from the rotors as possible.

Here are the Hawk pad bedding instructions:
After installing new pads make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 35 mph with moderate pressure. Make an additional two to three hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph. Do not allow the vehicle to come to a complete stop. When completed with this process, park the vehicle and allow the brakes to cool completely before driving on them again. Do not engage the parking brake until after this cooling process is compete.

I just replaced my front pads with the new 'Adaptive One' pads from NAPA and am happy with them so far. I'm doing the rears this weekend w/ the same version NAPA pads.
I have generic slotted/drilled rotors and flushed the stock fluid out and put in the high temp 'blue' synthetic stuff but otherwise they're stock.

So was I, I had a 95 Crown Vic before, lousy brakes even after pad upgrades. For my 04, MM looked at the Willwood 13's but wen for the KVR 14' kit with SS lines. Kevlar pads were NG, went EBC yellow (better) then EBC blue, better yet but my Countour has much better brake feel and modulation with Mintex pads and Couger rotor and calipers. Go figure. Not sure what to reccomend. For the time and money mine does not stop on a dime. Good luck. Stan motoguzzi99@gmail.com
