View Full Version : 2V in the 11s

Here's the short version. I had the 2000, it was a northern car, rusted to pieces. Bought an 04 as a DD, ripped the 2000 apart, put everything in a 99 that happened to be the same color as the 2000. Ripped a bunch a weight out of the 99 since it's not a DD, got it down to 3720 with me, which makes it 3575 without me. Lets just say I took that b*tch to Jenny Craig and told her what the deal was.

Congrats again on your 11 second runs. Put your mods in your sig!
Get an N/A run in too if you can. Too bad I'll never be able to line up with you! -- I thinks I could take ya! :) (no spray of course)

I'm gonna go run it NA a few times this weekend and work on flashing the converter and my reaction times. It went 8.39 in the 8th the night before this run when it was 40 degrees outside.

That car launched like all hell off that lineIt did! The tire pressure was at 18pre burnout, so probably 20 when I raced. It spun ever so slightly, so I'm gonna lower it a little more and see if I can squeeze some 1.70 60's out of here this saturday! I'll get some video again.

I was a little scared of the right lane cause I watched like 2 people break something in that lane. But they were both stick shift cars that weigh more than me. Funny saying a mustang weighs more than me.

Anyway, I'm gonna make some motor passes for myself and ya'll, and I'm gonna dial the fuel pressure down a little bit. She was running fatter than I wanted to. I'm emailing my tuner now to try to get a little more timing pulled. Not to run a bigger shot just yet, but because all my friends that are going much faster than me are twisting my arm into pulling a little more timing and leaning it out some more.

I know I know, everyone thinks nitrous has to be SUPER fat on stock internals, or just in general, but all the people going fast with the juice are pulling more timing, and leaning it out... and going faster. Super dirty whore fat and too much timing = fuel getting under the ringlands, getting super hot, and blowing the ***** up!

My two bottle head friends have been preaching to me about the dangers of running too fat on spray, and looky looky what happened literally a day after I learned this tidbit.

you hear the detonating bad about the :55-:57 range in this one

And I I'll just go ahead and tell you, my car was the one that came away drivable. He beat me by a half car, but stayed in it to win it. He treed me by a tenth cause he ran a 7.64 to my 7.58

At least my PI motor lived to fight another day!

Running 255/50-16 on the rear with 3.55 gears gives you about 3.89 effective gear ratio.

A 255/50-16 is almost identical in ride height I stock 225/60-16 for old cop cars. I'm pretty happy with my 60' and 1320s considering what I do have done and what's still stock.

so are you going to back down the shot? No, because my motor didn't blow. That was stang's #4 cylinder. That's what a 100 shot can do without pulling timing when it's 39 degrees outside. IAT was giving that motor all the timing she wanted, and the ringland popped!

wheres your mid range at with that cam i have a 2001 CVPI thats running 14s and it jus has basic CAI rear cat delete and super 44 flowmaster along with a ford PI intake. i want my car in the mid 11s cuz i use it as a daily also ;) any tips i dont wana run spary thou

CameronVic
11-03-2011, 09:40 AM
Mid 11s without spray... Hmm. Put your car on a serious diet, and put a 347 SMF in it, with every bolt on they make. Get a quick fuel E85 carb, a C4 with a 4000 stall, .373 gears, and a 275/60-15. Not sure about the street ability you'd have, but that should get you in the mid 11s

CameronVic
11-03-2011, 09:42 AM
Oh, and my midrange power is alright. The HP curve goes all the way up to my shift points. Low end TQ isn't really a big deal, one because it's got a 3500 stall, and 2, because nitrous builds TQ like a sumabitch

CameronVic

well a buddy of mine said if i run 100 dry shot to my CAI my MAF would read it as -30 and my engine would eat it up and run like a bat outta hell i was thinking a 4.6 3V swap just because i wana keep it FI and i can still use mustang GT parts. is that true about the dry shot thou if i run it to my CAI will my MAF read it as -30?

CameronVic
11-03-2011, 12:03 PM
It's my understanding that a dry shot has a line hooked up somewhere to the FPR and it pulls more vacuum so the fuel pressure on the injectors is higher, and the extra fuel needed for nitrous is there. I think it you tried it that way, you'd definitely peg your stock MAF. Then again I have no experience with a dry shot so I could be completely wrong.

CameronVic
11-03-2011, 12:04 PM
Oh, and you'd want to pull timing. There's a picture in this thread of what a 100 shot without a tune will do to your pistons.

11-04-2011, 09:58 AM
what if i dropped a saleen 2v supercharged engine in it larger throttlebody, smaller supercharger pulley,45lbs injectors, comp cams extreme mild cam and some BBK headers think that would get me into the 11s or atleast the low 12s?

CameronVic
11-04-2011, 12:10 PM
If you had a built motor and all other supporting mods, you'd be in the 12s with the right tires. Not sure about the 11s, I've seen stranger things happen before though!

Went to the track today, made a couple motor passes, and here's what she did! I think this might be a record for 4.6 2V panthers NA?

13.36 @ 100 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sv4QWOByzw)

13.35 @ 100 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9OAANUVB6w)

Was gonna make a nitrous pass and try to better my 11.99, car went 12.02 @ 109. Immediately after letting of and getting on the brakes, I heard a loud slapping, almost like the slapping like that stang made as he busted a ringland.

I make the right hand u-turn, and go to get on the gas, and something terrifying happened. It was missing really bad. Long story longer, I determined the #7 cylinder was the source (by unplugging cops. I figured it must have been a burnt plug or bad cop. Unplugged the cop and injector for that cylinder, and limped the 65 miles home. Pulled all the plugs, and this is what I found!

Which one doesn't belong!? The order of the plugs is 8 to 1, starting left to right.

http://i882.photobucket.com/albums/ac29/cameron878/The%20swap/015-2.jpg

Something weird happened when I pulled the plug, it was barely past hand tight. Maybe I put a little too much anti-seize on and it backed out. I haven't put new plugs in it yet.

AFs were perfect on the wideband the entire time. Bounced between 11.0 and 11.4 the entire pass. Who know when during the pass it went, or what it woulda ran. I know it went 12.02 down a cylinder!

http://i882.photobucket.com/albums/ac29/cameron878/The%20swap/014-3.jpg

I'm gonna make one more trip before the end of the season, not sure if it will happen next weekend or the weekend after next. The nitrous tune was uploaded on that pass, and I didn't make the jump to a 150 shot, and I'm glad I didn't.

Couple shots of my car.

Went to the track yesterday to see what I could do on the last day the track was open until the spring. This is the video where my new sig pic came from.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rg9yYCSaoMU

http://i882.photobucket.com/albums/ac29/cameron878/The%20swap/022-1.jpg

I got the win light by 16 ten thousandths of a second. Put it this way, it was so close, I thought I lost.

I don't know anything about the Camaro I raced other than it wasn't turboed or blown, so it was either a built motor, or he was spraying. All I know is that I'm sure I blew some chevy owner's mind that day.

Car went 11.95 @ 115 right before this, and it was pig whore super fat rich, so I changed the fuel jet. It lost 2MPH, but picked up a tenth. That's what happens when you take some TQ out of it on the top end and replace it with HP. Pick up time, lose trap speed.

On the final run, I tried to put a little more fuel in it, and it melted the exact some plug as last time, the #7. I have no idea why it's happening now. I think although the AFs are perfect, those just reflect the AFs on bank 2, not individual cylinders.

One of the friends that helped me with the swap theorized that the oil ring in that cylinder is going bad, and when oil and nitrous meet, detonation occurs. I'll be pulling the head(s) this winter to see the damage and possibly go a different route with the car. (Built motor, turbo) So some parts may be coming up for sale, stay tuned! I've got about 3 or 4 months to dream!
