Is there any advantage of going 31 spline on a N/A Marauder? Will any 8.8 31 Spline trak-lok rear end and any 31 spline axles work? Worth the upgrade if you do the work yourself?

Depends on what your plans are for the car, doubt you will break either s/c or not

obviously the 31 splines are stronger, and yes any 31 spline 8.8 tracloc will work

I'm not sure if the stock axles are going to break under NA power unless you put on some slicks and launch it hard... possible. If you are really interested we have FORD oem 31 spline axle and Cobra differential package in the Marauder section of our site.

Well I have no plans on going SC(at least for right now)...I was just curious if they give the car anymore pep or if it is a waste if staying NA.

No "PEP" will be gained.

If you're staying N/A I wouldn't change them.

4:10s will give you the pep u speak of

Plan on going to them soon...what is the best install kit to get with them...the one that ends in B in Sparta's site?

maybe sparta will chime in on that one

Depending on the mileage of your car, if over 40K the best kit to get would be M-4210-C as it comes complete with new parts including axle bearings.

OK that's what I needed to know...but my dad(my mechanic also lol) said he doesn't think I would like the 4:10's but rather thinks I would like the 3:73's better since it is a daily driver and plus I travel with it over the road a decent amount so maybe I will do 3:73's. Anyone here have 3:73's???

Do 4:10's.... its a noticeable pep and you only lose like 1 mile per gallon

You won't notice any difference with 3.73's, so installing them would be a waste of your and your Dad's time.

The Marauder was originally supposed to have 4.10's from the factory... bean counters killed that because they wanted the 1-2 extra MPG.

Trust me.... Do the 4.10's... it will be like driving a new car......

That's what I tried to tell him but he was just saying he just felt like it would need "that extra gear" on the highway...of course he is used to the older muscle cars and how guys would switch from 4:10's to 3:73's...but I tend to respect his opinions since he has been doing this for so long...but I will probably do 4:10's and if I don't like them just take the "I told you so."

With 3.55's you turn 2100 RPM's at 65mph, with 4.10's you turn 2300. You also gain more off the line and the entire drivability of the car improves. I had the same type of people saying I was crazy when I said I was installing 4.10's. I was told that I'll rev too high on the highway, my gas mileage will suck and they aren't made for a daily driven street car. Times are different and the older guys think that newer 4spd transmissions are close geared like the ones from the 60's and 70's when a 4.10 gear swap would make the car scream in 4th gear. Go 4.10s and then you can say " I told you so" all day long. Go for the "C" kit, that has everything you need to complete the install and replace all the seals and bearings. You'll also need a tune to correct the speedo and shift schedule. Also don't forget the friction modifier in the fluid after the swap.
Steve Babcock said himself at MV9 that the car was to come with 4.10 gears, but it wouldn't meet the gas mileage rating it needed. That also explains why this car is so de-tuned in stock form.

I have 3.73, and also do a fair amount of highway. At 80 im spinning 2470. Past 2500 the gas goes fast.
I also have a high stall converter so i get off the line effortlessy and still get better mileage than 4.10s
