I know it's been taking a lot of flack, but I got my first in-person sighting of one those new Chevy SS pickup trucks today and I have to say, it looked pretty damned nice. The owner wasn't about, but I took some time to walk around it and look closely. It's pretty sharp. Wish s/he would have been there so I could hear the exhaust tone. If they weren't so much money and I was in the market I think I'd consider one.

It's an interesting vehicle, but completely useless. Maybe not more useless than a Prowler, but in the same genre

HUH????? I have seen the SS truck in blue, red and black. In person. They were all the standard cab with 8 foot body.

You mean Extended cab as none are Regular or Standard. Not yet any way.
But theres one thats just running 150 Shot of N20 and runs High 12's. So they have they'er potential to. Plus the new C6 has the exact same engine so Mods are going to be very potent when they do come out. :burnout:

I guess so. I don't consider that little back seat to be a "four door", as in the true sense of the new 4 door trucks. :)

Oh ok, for some reason I was thinking of the SSR pickup.
Yes the "SS pickup" isn't useless. For that sort of thing though I'd prefer a Lightning (or F150 sized Harley Davidson pickup if I wanted a "crew cab" style truck)

It just did not appeal to me. I saw one at the last two car shows I was at and even got to sit in one. I was not impressed at all and for being supercharged it has no power, rated under 300hp.
Now the SSR was a complete waste, I did not like it at all. I agree with Duncan and will stay with Ford. The Harley Davidson F-250 now that was a sweet truck. 6.6L power stroke engine 350 rwhp and 512 rwtq and the gas mileage was cmparable to the Marauder.

I think you're wrong about the usefullness of the SS pickup. I've seen two (one blue and one red) that were being used as a contracting truck. It's AWD, so it'll rip a Lightning out of the hole, unless the Lightning can hook up.
Are you sure you're not talking about the SSR? The retro truck? Yes, now there's a useless truck. But then again, isn't pretty much any slammed truck useless? :)

Once again, I rarely post , but I have to respond here. I saw one of those retro SS thingys at a dealers last week priced at $80,000 cdn.
What a pile of ----.
Anyone who would even think of paying that for a Chev truck should be committed. The one I saw was red, red, red and is among the ugliest things I have seen GM put out in years and that is a mouthful (AZTEC anyone?)
The only other thing they could have done was to make it wrong wheel drive!!
Keep the shiney side up.

not a good sign when they're already swapping out the entire engine for something different in a new "performance" truck, to get it to perform

How'd you miss my subsequent post explaining I thought he meant the SSR?
