OK -

So, I admit that I'm not the best at the search feature (A search for HID yielded bubkus).

I've been looking for the latest in HID kits for the 9007 and H1 bulbs at 5000K and wonder what is the current standard of systems and warranties (Christmas is coming!)?

ctrlraven recommended www.ddmtuning.com (http://www.ddmtuning.com/) way back when but I don't see the same kits available.

Can you provide me with any guidance on experience and manufacturers of what's currently accepted as the hot setup?

Thanks,

Mark

The search tool on these forums can be a very tricky. Thy "HIDS" and you will get some better results.

I think most around here will say ddmtuning. I have been running a set their 35 w 4500k headlights for two years, haven't failed me yet.

Also, has anyone mounted H1's in the backup lights?

Reason #1: I want to see when I'm backing up
Reasong #2: I'd like to hit tailgaters with some 5000K Photon Torpedoes
Separate switch will be necessary.

With the small space inside the reverse lights you'll probably melt the lenses assembly.......

But try it and let us know how it works.....

I ordered a kit from DDM Tuning on 10/25. The tracking number shows it just arrived in Jamaica, N.Y. today 11/09......

For what I paid for the kit, their shipping sucks. I did ship the cheapest way but I get kits faster from some dealers on eBay where I pay less for a kit and free shipping!

yes, everyones known that DDM tuning shipping sucks. But you get what you pay for, and that goes with any plug and play HID kit

That's my point.

I get better service from a US vendor on eBay.

The kit costs less.

Shipping is quicker.

Never had an issues with returns or defective parts.

DDM is based out of california

They are shipping directly from china now though. I'm not sure if its because of the big crackdown on HID kits or what, but... They've always had slow shipping times regardless.

By the way, even though I'm sure you know, even if the seller is US based, it all comes from the same slow boat from china. Half of the stuff is made in the same factory, and just rebranded.

Is there a lower heat, high brighness, bulb that could work?

I tried the 30% brighter Sylvanias but they're no improvement (for backing up).

I've seen people do HID reverse lights on many cars, including panthers AND including marauders... Hell one guy one here even did HID cornering lamps...

Personally I think its retarded. The constant on/off will kill the bulb life very quick. Every time you shift the car from P to N, the reverse lights flash. Also, cheap HID kits often take 10-15 seconds to fully warm up. How often are you backing up for a full 15+ seconds?

I'd really love to put an LED board back there, but I wouldn't want it to look weird. I may just try some PnP SMD LED bulbs and see what happens.

OK - What model(s) should I buy from any source for 9007(hi/low)/H1 bulbs with 5000K color.

What's the difference between 35W adnd 55W? Any other options required?

As always - Thanks!

Mark

Honestly? My opinion is don't waste your money on plug and play HID's, the output is horrid and the high beam just doesn't do anything... Not only that, but they glare like crazy. If you don't care about having actual light output and just want to look cool then just go get a set of 9007 DDM HID's and either H1 or 9005/H10 for the fogs.

55W is more power and puts out 20% more light, but since these are plug and plays, that'll also equal about 20% more glare. They also overpower the bulbs meaning your bulbs will not last as long because they get burnt out quicker. Also, 55W colorshifts the bulbs in a way where it will wash color out, for instance... 8000K+ 55W = 5000K, 5000K + 55W = 4300

I can chat lights all day, feel free to PM me about HID's, and that goes for anyone....
