I've got a slight pause when going from drive to reverse. is this normal? its been doing it for some time. I've got 102k on the car now. Would a transmission flush and/or complete fluid/filter change resolve this?

If you've never done a flush before it might just finish it off..

what do you mean "Finish It off" ?? "DEAD" ?? as in, if I flush it, it will flush my cash outta my wallet for new transmission?

The stock transmission does have a delay when shifting into reverse.
An optional part of the J mod is to enlarge the ports in the valvebody separator plate for the reverse actuator/piston - it does eliminate the "pause".

A seized up u-joint on the driveshaft can also give you more hesitation when shifting to reverse, along with a couple other symptoms.
