OK - I've been tracking this car for a couple of days.
My wife and I have been looking for a classic looking convertible (and I have had one eye on a Marauder).
I know that there is a great deal of historical information about 60's Marauders on this site and I wonder what the gurus think about this car.
I love the lines of it, the body looks good, interior is manageable, the trunk/tank are questionable, etc. but I think that I could make a driver out of this car.
Also, there's the issue of getting her from Fresno to NJ (note my post about car carriers).
So, is it real and a something that I could restore (not looking to flip the car for big bux - Only wanting a nice driver (would warm over the 390 and trans)).

Get in touch with Kirk (screen name the same) he knows a lot about the older MM's
My first question is do you want a classic convertible or do you want a classic Marauder? Because you can't have both because they didn't make a production Marauder convertible.
This car is advertised as a Marauder, but it's not. It is a Park Lane convertible. Are you still interested in it?

Thanks for taking a look at it - So, the Super Marauder engine was an option for the Park Lane and didn't make it a Marauder?
I still like the lines of the car and we are looking for a convertible - I have no idea how I'll get it from Fresno to NJ.
Thanks again,
Mark

In fact, the 390 Super Marauder engine (300 hp) was standard in the Park Lane. This car looks pretty rough and needs almost everything. The interior parts it needs may be difficult to find.
I recently saw a 1965 Park Lane Marauder 2dr sell on ebay for around $2,500 that was in a lot better shape than this car. But of course it wasn't a convertible.
This car will need a lot of work. I'd keep looking.
Super Marauder as applied to the 300Hp 390 is mostly advertising hype, that same engine was the std power plant for the T-Birds beginning in '61... In stock form with the log exhaust manifolds and 2" exhaust system not exactly a fireball(I owned two 300Hp 390 in '64 Galaxies, one auto the other four speed)... They maybe produced a honest 250Hp, which considering drive line loss would be approx 210 at the rear wheels...
With a set of headers and good exhaust system, the missing ponies were mostly back in the corral...

Agree with TFB.
Even with a 3:50 rear, my Galaxie 500XL convert (auto) with a new 390/300 is no rocket.
A heavier 65 Merc with (most likely) a 3 to 1 rear would be a bit more sluggish.
But, I'm not looking for Mustang GT performance, so I'm fine with my car's powertrain.

If you're looking for a decent driver this car has a lot of potential, although the cost would be off the scale if you wanted a concours resto. Check out the torque boxes in front of the rear axle for decay. At its current $1300 price, it's a deal even if you spent $800 to have it hauled across the country.

I thought that it looked do-able for a nice driver (never concours). Where do you see $800 hauling fees? I've only seen >$2K.

Well, I suppose the prices I've seen for x-country transport are from a few years back. I was quoted $600 from a carrier to haul a'67 Continental convertible from CA to VA in 2003. 2k seems a bit high to me, but I haven't checked rates lately either.
