I had 4:10's put in my marauder in March 2010. I got them from summit and I guess the guy didn't put them in right because they wined. Recently all of the bolts backed out and they won't fix it for free. With this being said I am now considering putting 4:10's back in along with a posi. Are there any recommendations on which brand of gears and posi unit I should get?

I think Sparta a vendor here is selling the new Ford gears.

A true posi? I'd avoid that for a street car. We have both choices of FRPP 4.10's to choose from.

I'd upgrade to a Ford 8.8 31-spline unit.

You'll need new axles.

There is a good shop in Durham. He installed my 4.10's and I have over 65k trouble, noise free miles on them.

He will be doing my 31-spline swap.

I had that happened to me about six months ago. I went to a guy that has a performance shop and had a Marauder at the time. The first set of gears were in my Marauder for only four months. The bolts backed out and damn near killed me. If you in the CAM area, do not let "Pete" touch any of your vehicles!!!!!!

The bolts backed out because no loc-tite was used......

Yeah I could have been killed. They didn't seem to care because it wasn't them. After I got the car back, it wouldn't turn over and start. Let's see here, it ran when they towed it to the shop but it didn't after I got it back. I do believe they have done something to to piss me off.

Yup. That's what the dealership advised. I went back to "Pete" with the dealership findings and he refused to make it right with me....So I do understand how people feel when you spend your money on your vehicle when it's not done...What goes around comes around!!!!!!

Tallpaul,

Why aren't you a member of the Carolina Marauders? Or are you? Would be great for you to join us the next time we get together...we'll have both Greenville's covered...

BIG HINT to the CM crew....haven't done nothin' since the BOC in May...

I say we meet in Charlotte and visit the Twisted Kilt...we can crash at Tom's house...I'm sure he won't mind; we just won't tell him....need to wait until Rex gets back from Qatar, though....

Rebuild the OEM track-lok using an OEM Cobra Carbon Clutch pack kit. Its what I'm using in all 3 of my 8.8's. They work great!

Damn, you didn't have to buy an entire dif. The packs can be changed out of the diff in like 15 minutes.

Isn't the only difference between the 28 & 31 spline diff's the spider gears and spring?

This post is rated E for everyone.

If your not doing hard launches nor running at the track I don't see the 28 splines being a issues. I had one to break on me at the track on my old MM. I upgrade to 31 splines then.

Right now I have 28 splines with a Eaton posi in this car. May upgrade soon since I'm running 500 at the wheels.
