My Mach 1 chin spoiler whistles at speeds above 40. I know that it's the spoiler because I took it off for a while and it went away. I put it back on and it whistles again. I put a bead of black silicone caulk in the gap between the bumper and the spoiler and it persists. I remember someone else had the same issue. It's not loud but still so ****ing annoying.
Anyone have a solution?

Since these parts were never designed for these cars they have all been installed differently. I commute on the interstate and have experienced no whistles with mine.
Take some detailed pictures of where the chin spoiler meets the bumper so we can provide better suggestions on where the whistling can be coming from.

Hey, I tried to help.
If you don't want to take pictures you could take some tape and place it over a 2-3 inch section of the seam between the chin spoiler and bumper at a time until you identify the section of the chin spoiler responsible for the whistling. You can then identify and address the noise from there by either adding additional fasteners or some kind of gasket or even 3M adhesive tape.

This sounds like a good plan. But if you don't like that carefully take it off, put it in a box and send it to me. I'll try it on my car and get back to Ya.

Yes, you were in the FTW category.:)
Good suggestion, but I put the bead of silicone in there with a perfect bead, no gaps and pefectly smooth.
I know someone else had the same issue, so it's not just me.

Whistle may not be coming from the chin spoiler itself. The air currents will move differently with the CS.
Might be coming from the MM air deflectors that the factory installed as with the CS installed they will receive their air differently than with no CS.
Just a thought. Good luck:)

The chin spoiler will flex slightly when air hits it possibly opening gaps that could cause a whistle.
What kind of fasteners are you using to secure it?

I was thinking the same thing and am considering removing them. I was hoping someone had a fix other than this in case I remove the spoiler at a future time.

I've inspected it for this and it's holding tight. I used push pins. They are tight as hell. Thanks.

Heard the dreaded whistle last night while on the hwy. I don't understand how you can hear the gap between the spoiler and bumper, must be the other theory that its deflecting air into the engine bay or something and more audible behind the dash..

If you decide to take the CS off...ill buy them for a good price? But what Mr.Man said seems pretty legit. Maybe try and messing around with a little? Example instead of having it so tight perhaps leave it a little loose? Or maybe reposition the CS? just a thought bro.

I took off the front grille to do some bodywork, and the whistle is gone. Weird. I haven't put the new one on yet. We'll see what happens.

Mine's whistling also. Tried to wedge some clear silicone adhesive in between but it looked sloppy and noticeable, didn't stick to the spoiler either. Came off easy -one pull.
Back to whistling. Hmmm.

Get the black silicone. Work it with your finger and take your time. Mine looks perfect. I've had a lot of practice over the years.
