I know that changing too far away from the stock tire size throws off the TC. BUT what about widen wheels?

It's the height difference between front and rear. Width has nothing to do with it.

Thank you. Any adjustments need to be made in the Xcal for em?

What is your current tune set for as far as tire size? 245/55-18 or 255/55-18?

If rear widen wheels would set off traction control mines would have exploded!

You did your wheels for traction or for the look? Car feel heavier? Handles differently?

Well actually both!, but i will tell you this the ride improves 1000% and balding the center of rear tires is history!
What you pay for widening you will save in tires!
My car aint the fastest, but it handles with the best of em! to say it handles differently is an understatment, doesent make the car feel heavier at all, but the total opposite
Ill be mounting my 18x10s up front just after thanksgiving cant wait!

Just find out the Revs or Revs Per Mile for the new tire and input it or the closest Revs setting as possible in the Xcal2 under Revs Per Mile in the user end adjustments. Higher the number the shorter the tire and vice versa, lower the number the taller the tire is.
Front 235/50-18 is 27.3" tall
Rear 245/50-18 is 28.6" tall
255/55 29" tall
265/50 28.4" tall
Are all larger than the front, the 265/50 is wider but is only 1.1" taller than the front that's about as low in height difference I think you can go without causing the TC to engage if it's not turned off. It's habit form for me to always turn it off before I start driving unless I am driving in snow and then again turning it off is pretty rare even when driving in the snow.

Wider up front? Never seen that before ...gota see pics. Is it a good idea to widen with JMod no springs, 4.10s, and a beast of a tune with shift pressure to the max?

Any reason why you turn yours off all the time?

Yep wider up front with a 28" tall tire at 12" wide=kick azz!:banana2:
With the combo your building your going to need the widest wheel/tire combo you can find!

If you use widened wheels, go with 295/45-18 tires for the correct height.

If you have the Jmod and put your tune shift pressure to the max you will end up breaking something for sure. With my shift pressure set at 1 (extreme tune numbers) anything more than 30% throttle and it will chirp the tire at the 1-2 shift. I had it set at 10% (Xcal2 numbers) before on a different tune and it was actually too hard even with 265/50-18 tires on the rear. Start at zero setting like I said before and slowly work up if that's what you desire.

This is with my shift pressure set at zero doing WOT shift. My speedo actually jumped almost 10 mph when it shifted.
Any reason why you turn yours off all the time?Because at one point in time I had to run same size tires around and if I didn't turn the TC off before driving at 45mph or half or more throttle it would kick in. Plus I like to stretch my right foot sometimes at a light or wherever. TC is a drivers aid, I don't need an aid unless I have to overcome a weather condition like snow or ice. It's force of habit to turn the TC and OD off before I even put it in drive. Don't even realize I do it sometimes.

Widen wheels being NA will give you more grip but if you don't have the power to overcome the added weight and surface contact it can actually slow you down some.

Do it! you wont be dissapointed! 800rwhp is my personal goal, but first my suspension, 4:10s 31 splines and such must be in place, for me its more fun this way
I plan to start my engine build in late 2012, if i dont sell it and buy a z06 vette!:burnout:

Hell of a list there. The stall explains the rpm rampage from the dig. I seen the 10mph jump on the 1-2 shift that's crazy. You still have some good traction I see

I believe that was on a 5% shift setting. 10% and I get sideways. Also have to remember in wet weather traction will break even easier, can't say how many times on low speed throttle I've gotten sideways when it's been wet and after taking off a stop and it hits the 1-2 shift.

1. stock rears suck
2. turn your shift pressure down!
Before I installed the PI stall converter my tires would chirp on the 1-2 shift, after installing it I never heard it again since the converter absorbs some of the grunt that translates through to bang the gear. After the jmod was done it made a world of difference and brought back the 1-2 shift chirp.

Yes stock rears are garbage. When it's wet and I pull off a light tires spin I have to almost give it no throttle to go. My car is weird ...been called a factory freak

Zack called mine a factory freak a long time ago when I get 13.72 with very minimal mods.
