Sorry for the long winded post...BUT READ IT! thanks in advance..lol

I just picked up my 1940 Buick Special from Mo's Speed Shop today! Let me first tell yall...this is WAY more than just a car to me. It was my grandpa's car for 40+ years and he was the second owner of the car. The car is all orignal/never been restored and has been around through A LOT of good and bad times! As my Grandpa's health has declined over the years, so has the car, unfortunately. The car had been sitting for probably 10 years or so UNTIL...

Marty personally picked it up from my Grandparents house in early Sept. The car was not running and had been sitting for many years. I asked Marty to pick it up, get it running and make sure it was safe to drive. They went over the car thuroughly...methodically addressing issues as they arose...

Well Marty told me last week that the car should be ready by this Friday which was GREAT news. However, I explained that if possible, I would like to be able to have the car ready to surprise my Grandparents by picking them up for Thanksgiving dinner in the car. He informed me yesterday that the car was ready and I could pick it up today.

I picked it up this afternoon and could not be happier with it! It drives like a damn new car...but its like going back in time when you get in it. I cant stop smiling once I fire it up....get soooo many looks/thumbs up/kids pointing/etc in this thing. The guys at the shop did an amazing job with the car and I cant thank them enough. As ive said before...My cars will not be worked on ANYWHERE besides Mo's as long as I can help it.

:hail:Thanks Marty, Jeff, Brandon, Jimbo and anyone else that helped with the car. My grandparents are going to loose it tomorrow when I show up driving the ole Buick:headbang:

It is going to look nice in the garage beside the Cobra too:grin:

Anyways...I'll shut up and post some pics I snapped today.

Let me know what yall think:oldschool:

I've been to Marty's house & garage once, I cannot believe anything he would put his name to would be less than 200%. This car probably looks and runs 1000% better than the pictures describe.

Andy is still local this weekend right? Is he driving this back to Augusta?

Great looking car. Is that a straight 8? I like those big ole cars; they are so roomy inside.
Congratulations on a nice job of revitalization. Bet that guy's Grandparents will be thrilled.

As MartyO said (on SVTP, not here)

The straight 8 runs like a sewing machine. It is so quiet you hardly know it is running!!!

I hope the owner will put up engine pics, I'd really love to see what the engine looks like under there

What a great story Marty. Your work just made a special day for two generations, that's the stuff they make commercials out of.

Thumbs up, oh and it ain't bragging if you can back it up

Here is what Andy posted today:

Well guys, it went great!

My grandpa isn't in the best mental shape these days. He has his good days and his rough ones. When he saw the car he walked over and put his hand on it and just stood there for a minute or so...you could tell be had no clue what to say, but he was happy:) he then walked around the car a couple of times, pointing and going on about how great it looked. That's about the time my grandma walked out to the driveway...it's hard on her to see him like he is these days, and it REALLY made her day to see him smiling and just staring at the car. She came over and hugged me and just wispered "you did good".

I don't think he truly understood what it meant to me (I hope he did), but I surely will never forget that day. When driving down 41 from cartersville back to kennesaw he said "I never thought I'd live to see it back on the road again"...im glad he did;)

Hope y'all all had a happy thanksgiving! I sure as heck did...I will post up some pics later today!

I will follow up with pictures when I get them from Andy.

He and I spoke today and it was just an awesome conversation!
