Got a friend who just bought a vette. Regular model nothing special. But just like a noob he thinks 200mph on the dash means its faster then a SC marauder.

My question is how much rwhp out the marauder would it take to take his pink slip. No mods on his car ...newer model vette

Newer model Vette is factory at 430 HP --probable a low 13 sec in the 1/4 if driver knows what he is doing---. The best N/A MM is about 13.6 or 7 I think--so unless you have done anything to your MM he will likely take you in the 1/4 for now.

What year vette? C5s I seen run 13.5-13.8 stock. A C6 could pull low 13s and maybe a high 12 with the right driver and conditions. A SC marauder depending on accompanied mods and how much boost would be a challenge for a vette.

The LS-3 models are solidly in the 12's with a 6 speed

I've beat a few of the newer C6 Vettes at the track, our MPH was similar, I just had better traction and gearing. If you can get solidly into the 12's it should be doable, most vette owners don't put drag tires on so they'll be crippled with trying to get traction with the runflats they come with.

Here's a quick list of what works for me:
- Trilogy blower, stock boost
- LT headers, midpipe, mufflers
- 2800rpm 9.5" stall convertor
- 4.10 gears, cobra T-Lok
- MT 305-45R18 drag radials
- a few other basic bolt ons, CAI, Control arms, etc.

You can easily add more boost to destroy them at the top end, but I tend to pull out several car lengths in the 1st 300' and try to maintain the lead till the finish line.

With a eaton s/c you will still see tail lights! remember our cars are boats @4250lbs, that vette is a whole lot lighter, and depending on what engine combo he has he will be that much faster.

To answer the OP. It is NOT an issue. Providing you have proper DR's...

Trilogy
3.0 pulley
Kurgan tune
CAI
Lightning MAF

445/431 Consistant 12'3's / '4's even hot lapped.

Now, if it were a half mile track...

Ok....... Here goes...:)

According to Car & Driver 12/2008 comparo A C6 weighs 3273 lbs. and is 436hp to the crank. Goes 0-100 mph in 9.0 sec, with a 12.4 @ 117 mph 1/4 time.

That said, real world conditions (driver competency, tire pressure, ambient temps) will effect these numbers for sure.

I would say most vette owners I have come across don't know how to launch their vehicles effectively enough to be competitive with an S/C'd Marauder... Due to our weight, it takes alot less skill (but more balls) to launch an S/C'd Marauder. From a 50 mph. roll it would be more of a coin flip... jmho/experience:D:burnout:

Make sure you run him from a dead stop and outlaunch him. One thing I've learned is most novice drivers panic if you pull ahead of them early and then make silly mistakes, miss shifts, overrev, etc. It's a mind game, and if you can break his concentration, he'll give you the race.

I destroyed a co-worker on an older (carbed) Kawasaki Ninja this way. Got him to break concentration while lined up and once I got the lead he was so flustered he couldn't make up the distance. I had 2 passengers with me for witnesses. Then I refused to race him again that season, he had to take a lot of abuse from all the other riders at work all winter that a 4dr loaded with people beat him on a bike. I did the same to him the next year, it was even easier to do because I was already in his head.

Exactly! I've witnessed one with a cold air kit and DR's only run a 12.7 followed by a 12.5. I felt sorry and almost asked to borrow his keys, but he left.
Some guys are new car owners (like we all were), some just a bad day at the track (we've all had these days), some think that that is plenty fast enough compared to the Honda they drive Mon. thru Fri., and some quite frankly don't get it and never will.
Given practice and letting your acorns stretch out a tad, you can further push a car and become one with it, winning races against cars you would not normally win against. With that however, oil on the track? Wrong driver or a spaz? Acorns starting to look like they belong on a billy goat? You will screw up and lose everytime, or worse yet hit the wall.
What is your experince with YOUR car and how far will you push it? That's the real question here.
