Installed a 9007 h/L kit from DDMtunning. Unfortunatly they are closed today. When 1st started just one headlight lights. If I turn the interior headlight switch to off then on it lights bolth headlights. What do I need to address ?

Try this...I had a problem where only 1 of mine would light, it ended up being the plug in for the HID wiring to the factory harness (the one behind the grill). I plugged the HID harness connector into the passenger side factory harness connector, instead it needs to be plugged into the drivers side.
My headlights are still screwy (activating high beams still makes my passenger light go down) but both lights are on now.

I will try that tomorrow. I will 1st check all connections. Then try swaping bulbs then balllasts. If that doesn't work I think it my be reverse polarity same as in your case.

The wires on kits are never right on when it comes to wiring so you will need to make sure the pins are in the right place. If that it's correct then you could have a bad ballast which is common with aftermarket hid kits. Checking that would mean swap game between bulbs and ballasts

The pins I think are in the correct positions. I think it could be a ballast or bulb. I will check when I get some free time.

problem is the hid kit is desined to run at 15-18amps on startup for the first 10second or so and the factory wiring is to thin to handle that load when you first start them up. i install a silver contact silanoid and upgraded the wireing from 16-18 gauge to 10gauge allowing more amp to both the ballest so when i turn on both my headlight and fog light all4 being HID they power up quickly w/o any flutter or any of the ballest turning off half way thru the startup and my wirning on the car is still stock im just added then inbetween the battery and the ballest so they would have more power to run w/o slowly damaging the the ballest dew to low voltage

Are you saying you installled a 10 ga. single wire with solenoid pre HID wire harness or in HID supplied wire harness ?

installed pre ballest the wire harness that they supply with a HID kit is still to thin installed the power wire from the battery juntion box to a fuse block then continue to the solenoid from the other side of the solenoid is two wires 1 for the left and 1 for the right side ballest for power i self growned the neg. to the core suport and for the trigger for the solenoid i tapped in to the loww side headlight wire so my ballests would turn on with my headlight switch and i did the same for the fog lights if you want i can post a video of my car starting and see how mine come on when cranking up my car!here is my car with the solenoid.

please post a video if you can - mercuryed. I'm really interested in what you did.
burt - any updates? Did you get it fixed?

Had a another issue I had to take care of. My air ride compressor stopped working & needed to be replaced. I will address the HIDs tomorrow morning.

Turn on the lights. If only one comes on again find the power relay box that should be a part of your harness and giv it a really good tap with something like a screw driver handle or something. If the other light suddenly comes on, its a bad harness and you will have to buy another 1. dont know if you tried this, but this was my problem.

Good suggestion I will try that before switching bulbs & ballasts.

I'm watching this thread...

For whatever it's worth...my HID's (DDM) turn off after start up, blink, one on one off the whole 9 yards.......started doing this about 1-2 years after instasllation...I had the LCM re-build to no avail...Thanks fastblkmerc!

Can't seem to find the cause as of yet...

I'll post up if I find the issue...

Aloha

Go to ebay and buy a new harness w/relay. Or the relay alone. Those relays get kinda wacky sometimes. I took the same route as you and had FBM fix my LCM...but it wasnt the issue (at least now i know it never will be:D). but my relay had gotten some moisture in it and rusted on the inside making it all screwy.

Thank you!

Hadn't thought about that...

I'll look there...

Thanks Again!

If when activating high beam makes the bulb go down then you have the bulb installed upside down. Make sure the metal rod arm that runs the length of the bulb is at the 6 o'clock position.

I also have a install write-up thread. Search "New HID Kit".

I have two DDM kits in my MM and two DDM kits in my Taurus both for headlight and fogs. Zero problems.

A wiring harness is 100% necessary to avoid hid failure and slow firing. 2 of my friends had to deal with electric fires occuring thru the headlight wiring not using a harness. Be safe

ctrlraven - you were correct on mine, fixed it yesterday as well as aimed lights. I STRONGLY recommend the KASTAR 5529A Ford Headlight Adjusting Wrench, got mine from tooltopia and it is 1000% better than the black long handled headlight adjusting wrench in local auto parts stores.

I did however notice one of my bulbs is slightly different color than the other though, not off by much so I'm not bothering with it, but it is off some.

Birch marauder - do you recommend the headlight upgrade wiring harness like is used without HIDs, or the other fix in this thread...?

It's a simple mistake I noticed after a while and then played around with the bulb and saw I could turn it 180 degrees and it fixed the high beam problem.

As far as the color, try switching your ballasts with other side. If it still occurs on the same side the bulb might be a different temp, if the color difference follows to the other side and the original side is now fine then its the ballast being slow or weak.

If you get the high/low kit from DDMtuning it comes with a wiring harness kit already. As far as the single beam kits I don't know but it could be wise to get it. The fog lights use the factory wiring. On my 08 Taurus I have fogs and headlight both using the factory wiring. The only thing I had to add to the Taurus for the headlights to work were code 3 BOW (Bulb Out Warning) eliminators since the amp draw from the HIDs is less than what a normal halogen bulb draws on the system.

I've been using the supplied high/low wiring harness that came with my DDMtuning kit with no problems. I used the passenger side headlight plug as the turn-on plug that connects to the DDMtuning blue or black plug.
