A short excerpt of a test drive from Muscle Car magazine:
"Depress the clutch, apply the brakes, slip the gearbox into neutral and twist the key. It takes but a second for the Cobra plant under the hood to jump to life, quickly settling into a somewhat distant rumble that can be felt through every pedal at your feet. And this is where the familiar muscle car sense of performance vanishes. You see the Cobra analog gauges, witness the cage around you, feel the stick in your right hand and the bucket that hugs you, but taking off from first does not produce the neck-snapping thrust you would expect. It could very well have been the fact that we were traversing a long drive sporting speed bumps, but even with the short thrust of the right foot, acceleration is as smooth and as natural as a Buick LaCrosse. Time for a second attempt, at the intersection we smash the accelerator to the floor. There it is, but the high buckets prevent the familiar snap from materializing. It's a short throw into second, and with the foot still in it, we're into third while the needle sharply climbs the circular ladder. We're in fourth only briefly before being directed down a side road featuring a 90-degree downhill left. Earlier, the rental car required extreme braking to make this corner, but the suspension under the Cobra Vic holds an even keel, the two-inch bar up front taking the g-force as if it was nothing, even while braking and manipulating the gearbox down a step or two. In a flash, we're through the corner--no time to look at the meter, but we're certain we were a long way from zero. In an instant, the trans is in fourth. Our only regret was that we didn't hit a stretch of pavement that allowed enough room for us to hit fifth. Stopping power? Did we mention that we're looking into a set of these pads for our own cars?"
You can't build this car for the asking price and own a unique piece of Ford, Bondurant, and Roush history.

I was doing my regular craigslist search this morning for Marauder parts and I came across this. http://newyork.craigslist.org/fct/cto/2723447854.html Just thought I would post it up and see what people thought about it or maybe someone here might be interested in owning something rare.:D

I think there was something mentioned that these couldn't be registered or driven in the street.
I recall something to that effect and if thats the case, $25k for a N/A Cobra conversioned vic is pretty steep.
You could but them for about 8K when they first showed up on the market when they were done using them. Threads were .posted on these cars on this site when they were up for sale. I think it was about 5 years ago,

All the vic's have vin #'s & can obtain titles. Fairly expensive & lengthy process.
Apparently you don't appreciate the history of the cars & the build quality of Roush. Roush charged Bondurant 40K (1999 $$) for the conversion of each vic, plus the 30K for the stock unit, makes it a 70K investment by Bondurant for each vic.
So send your stock vic to a fabricator with the above list of mods & see how much they would want to build it for you.

Yeah those cars had two smaller E-fans in addition to the large clutch fan.
And a bigger radiator.
25 thousand dollar Crown Victoria that has had more men in it beating the crap out of it than Jenna Jamison on location. I don't think so. But good luck with the sale and stuff!

This car is titled & can be registered. We'll have to agree to disagree on what you can or can't do for X amount of $$$ & the results you will achieve. One thing for sure is there are only 18 of these built & as time goes on they will keep increasing in value.

Each vic was assigned to a single instructor to give students tours around the track. Preventive maintenance was always performed on these vehicles.

Yeah the Bondurant Vics are great, the suspension is suprisingly beefy. IIRC they have like a 2-inch front swaybar or something like that. They were definitely overbuilt to take the abuse.
Having the 5-spd is also a plus.
I can't afford one, but if I had a ton of money I'd buy one no doubt.

Okay, I'm sorry. I think this was the first time in 7 years I ever made a negative comment about a car for sale. It just seems like an outrageous price for a drivers ed car. I hope you get your asking price, maybe it will boost the resale value of all panther platform vehicles and help us all in the long run.

That's cool, collector cars are worth what the market will bear & a 25K car is an entry level vehicle. The beauty of these cars is that they are very limited, the #1 is displayed at the Bondurant museum, & they have a prominence that can be documented back to Ford & Roush. Investment into numbered vehicles seems to do well, Shelby is a good example, only time will tell.

No, 180 compression all cylinders, very quite & smooth, trans shifts like butter with the kevlar rings, rear also quite. Suspension all good, bushings solid, brakes look like new. These cars have very low mileage, granted it is track time, but still very well maintained.

Hey, near the shifter, whats that red flip up switch for? Just curious.
COBRAVIC10
12-29-2011, 07:18 PM
That red switch is for the halon fire system. You can see the 2 halon tanks mounted in the trunk pic. These cars were really built with safety in mind, very cool.
Also on the dash is a switch to bypass the ABS & a battery kill switch.
Anyone know why they used the V10 water pump? Is that suppose to be beefier of what?

Sweet Vic. Unfortunately, track cars only hit "collector" prices if they have some interesting winning history. Otherwise, the mods and assumed abuse takes a toll on resale. Not trying to bash, just doubtful you'll see close to 25K. Perhaps auction at BJ or Mecum? Best of luck with the sale and thanks for posting. I'd love to have some of those mods on my MM (especially the manual!).

My understanding of the HD cooling system was because these cars were to be driven at the Arizona track, so cooling was essential. The first time I drove the car, cool Northeast day, it took about 15 minutes for it to reach operating temp.

Well it does sound like your bashing, as most people who do are ignorant of the subject they think they know so much about. Let me educate you a little.
This car & others have gone through the title process, thereby making them legal street cars. These cars were never meant to be all out race cars, even though they have many race car features, so a winning history has no value unless it is a current or vintage type race car.
As far as abuse, these cars were single driver cars by the instructors assigned to them. Bondurant's service of these cars was top shelf all the way.
Again, there were only 18 of these built, with Ford, Roush & Bondurant history. I'm a Big Ford guy, so for me it has value, for others not as much, that's what makes the world go around.
As for value & I have already stated this, it is what the market will bear. Recent sales have been over 20K for these Bondurant cars. You can't even get a decent Mustang, Camaro, etc, for that kind of money. Also, as time goes on & the builders of specialty cars pass on, Ferrari was a good example, the cars do get a big pop.

The car is unique, it would draw a crowd at any show. It could not be built for 25k, period.
If I could somehow justify it, I would be a serious buyer, besides being a blast to drive, it would be great to take to some of the shows I go to.
There seems to be such an attraction with derailing people's F.S. threads, why is that?
Good luck with the sale, that is an awesome toy.

Wow CobraVic, you beat me to the response. You are 110% right, the for sale forum, is not a "post your feelings/opinion" forum. If you need to do that, start your own thread on the subject.
Why does someone feel they need to post their opinion on something that someone else has for sale. I'm tired of it happening to me, and, happening to other members.
The bottom line, if you don't want someone to do it to you, don't do it to them, what comes around, WILL go around. I have seen it happen. And, the people screaming the price is too high, cry like a little kid:bigcry: when someone does it to them. The car will sell for what it sells for, if you don't agree with the price, move on. Flaming the seller will not make him drop the price to something that you can afford, it'll just tick them off:argue:, and show everyone what your all about.:alone:

This is not the first time that the topic of the high asking price has been discussed about the Bondurant cars....

My car is comparatively unique compared to the thousands built in 2000. Before my accident in Nov 2011, I would get offers all of the time for my car ranging from $2,000 to $5,000, LOL!

The way I see it,
Firstly, the fact that the car is already titled is half the battle, I remember many of them weren't, so essentially you had to go through the process and pray. Big +1 to the value there since it's ready to drive on the street at time of purchase.
Secondly, I don't care if you can throw a Trilogy on an MM and be super fast, when someone comes out with an affordable and easy to install manual transmission swap kit/swap plan, THEN you can complain about his price, cause an MM isn't gonna offer that gear-rowing experience (save for like 3 or 4 or so known ones that have been converted) that this car already can.
If you're the do-it-yourself type, go for it and swap the manual trans and supercharge your motor and brag all day about how you are better than a Bondurant Vic, otherwise, seriously this car has its niche and I don't doubt that once the ad goes in the proper venue (read: the right type of buyer finds it), it'll go for the full $25K
Well it does sound like your bashing, as most people who do are ignorant of the subject they think they know so much about. Let me educate you a little.
I'll be honest with you, don't be surprised at this, this is a website where in one breath they will bash you for selling your MM to pick up a Chevy, but then in the next will hi-five a guy for setting the fastest 1/4 E/T for an MM using a Chevy mill. I can understand brand and badge loyalty, but it can get to an absurd level here, in the weirdest ways no less.

He wants 32K for #11 & I assume he will get it eventually. There was some cry baby earlier in my thread that wouda, couda, shouda, bought one for 8K. Well as time goes on 25K may look like a bargain.

Yes, the title is very important in the value, time consuming & expensive. The police officer that inspected #10 for the title company commented that he wished Ford had built the police cruiser like the Cobra Vic, we had a good LOL!
Yes, you can't build a car like this for 25K unless your a top notch fabricator. But the hours to do so would be extreme, and you still don't have the history.
The experience of driving #10 is very unique & satisfying. The engine is extremely smooth, the shifter is like butter, great Cobra Mustang exhaust note and the incredible handling, all add up to a fantastic build by Roush.
Ya, bashing seems to be the way the internet rolls!

Your assuming I stripped the decals, this is the way I bought #10 with the original #10 in the corners. You know what they say about ASSumptions!
All the vic's I have seen that are street driven are void of decals. The #1 in Bondurants museum is fully dressed. It wouldn't take much to have decals made if your a serious collector. IMO & others, decals on the street are tacky. For example, the Indy pace cars that are sold to the public usually come with decals delete & packaged in the trunk of the vehicle.
If that is your only complaint on an entry level collector car, then I must have it priced right!

No way.
Serge isn't a loser, he's just expressing is opinion. All he said is if he was going to buy it he would like the Bondurant decals. Some people want that as a sign of authenticity and apparently they will pay for it. For how cheap it is to make the decals, maybe it would help if you sold the decals in the trunk as an added incentive?

I understand that you are upset at some of the comments made, but you have also railed on people that have offered some suggestions to help you sell what is a remarkable automobile. I understand it's tough sometimes, but sometimes it's better to rise above the negative comments instead of attacking back, it only prolongs the derailing of the thread.
I truly hope you find a buyer, as that is a great beast you have for sale and I hope it finds a happy home

I wish I could by that sweet Vic. To row through the gears with the Cobra motor would be a blast.
Good luck selling it.

Please show me in this thread where I railed on someone that showed constructive criticism. Ignorant thoughts, opinions, assumptions, or ideas of a subject you know nothing about is not considered to be helpful.

Ya, nothing like the feel of a big, well handling car at speed. Add the manual & it is the sweetest!

That's exactly what I'm talking about, I offered a friendly response with a polite suggestion and your response back is defensive and filled with anger. You get more bees with honey, good day to you sir

Sorry you feel that way, you made a statement, I asked "Please" show me we're I railed on someone that showed constructive criticism. I went on to defend why, it wasn't addressed at you. But, if I make a statement I am ready to back it up.

It's a shame Ford is ending the platform, one of the best!
