Something that has bugged me for quite sometime is the short timer on the Log In for MM.Net. I think this this is set for something like 5 minutes. If you walk away from your computer and return is 6 minutes you have to Log On again. Seems pretty short/quick to me. Can we make this more like 10-15 minutes?

There isn't anything worse than spending time to type up a detailed response to something and have the computer time out on you with the 5 minutes rule. You stand a good chance of losing everything you just typed if you have to log on again and didn't have the foresight to copy it before hitting the "Post" button. It has happened to me on many occasions.

So ..... how 'bout giving us a little more time on the clock before asking for another Log In????

Whatcha say???

In the 6 years I been on this site, I never been logged off due to a time limit. Is it because you are in cognito or you didn't click the "remember me" box?

Charlie, I think it's actually 15 or 20 minutes but I will check tonite. If you click on "remember me" when you log in, it puts a cookie on your computer and that will keep you logged in.

I leave my computer for a couple of hours at a time and have not had to relog in.

I can shutdown my computer, power it back up and will still be logged in to the site.

I'm with you Charlie,
I've had a few uncompleted posts get dumped when I timed out and then had to log back on.

Must be in your computer settings. I've never once been logged out, unless on purpose.

Session Expiration

This is the time in seconds that a user must remain inactive before their login session expires. This setting also controls how long a user will remain on Who's Online after their last activity.

It was set to 15 minutes. I've changed it to 25 minutes.

:D

If your computer is set up to accept cookies, your sessions don't expire until you log out manually.

OK thanks. That should help some. Sure seemed like less than 15 minutes to me. 25 is better. I'll think about the "cookies".

Charlie, you can customize your browser security to only accept the cookies you want. "Allow"ing the MM.Net cookie will keep you logged on. That's the way our computers are set up.

Nah, it's just a new algorithm MM.net installed. It looks at your screen name, and if it sees "Joe Walsh" it just kicks you off. Kinda like a pre-locked thread mechanism....
