Hey Maruader Team, I just picked up and 03, and im wondering what should I do for tires and wheels for the winter? I was wondering if I should run 16's all steel wheels (cop rims and tires)? I dont want to put the original wheel and tires through the salt and snow. Could someone drop some nuggets please?

Thanks:-):banana::banana2::lol:

I run 16 cvpi steelies and Winterforce M+S for winter.

235/70-16 Front and 255/70-16 Rear. If you have traction control you'll need a larger tire on the rear. If you don't have traction control you can go with same size all around.

16's and Pirelli Scorpions. Car is parked but in a pinch the Pirell's work well.

I run the same size as ctrlraven and it definetly lifts the car up off the ground some, so should help with clearance...plus its easier to get in and out of! lol They kinda look like truck tires, but not all that bad IMO. I am running General Altimax Artics, they are studdable but I decided not to stud them....we'll see if I regret that decision.

I have a 2nd set of Marauder wheels with Bridgestone Blizzak's. 235/55 on the front and 255/55 on the rear.

16" steelies with 225-60R16 and 235-70R16. Hankook i-pike in the front and Yokohama Geolander i/T back, currently. They tend to wear out at different rates so I end up with whatever's available at the time and they seem to switch between car sizes front, and truck sizes, rear, so nothing seems to match.

17" Lincoln rims that came with Phoebe when we bought her. General Altimax Arctics on the rear and Michelin all-seasons on the front.

Imho, steel wheels look really bad on these cars. For the same money but a bit more effort, any aluminum rims look better. Or full hubcaps I suppose, r better than the dogdish ca

I've got the same set up. Works great and looks better than steel rims. And I payed IIRC $125 shipped for my GM rims off eBay almost 3 years ago. Bought Hankook snow tires.

I just put on the Winter Wheels with Hankook i-pike (staggered fitmernt -- 215 R16 in front and 225 R16 in rear). Drove them up I-95 Sat. eve and like them -- no issues and no ABS/TC lights. Have another set to put on wife's Blue MM.

Thanks for replies to all, but specifically speaking what alluminum alloy wheels? and where? I must do something rather quick. I agree the steel wheels bring the cars image down.

Interesting, I was more interested in being able to move than image. I still have my CVPI wheels and studded WinterForce setup if I need to put the MM in service. Chrome acorn covers with chrome trim rings looked good and I didn't have to worry about them becoming unbalanced from ice/sand buildup.

I found mine using car-part.com. Search for wheels for a 2003 or newer Ford Crown Vic or Mercury Grand Marquis. The rub here is finding 4 of the same rim at the same place, as a lot of cars that end up in the junkyard were in crashes that damaged at least 1 rim. Worst case, visit 4 different yards.
Some of the Lincoln rims and other Ford product rims will probably work too, as long as they use the same high offset (40mm - 55mm or so).
If you can find 'em, go with 17" wheels (such as those from a CV LX Sport) - handling will be better, but you'll have the same problems finding matching front/rear tires (as for 16" rims).

Well, you need both tires and rims in order to move. Unless the OP wants to use his OEM rims with winter tires, he's going to have to buy a set of tires, and a set of rims. While comparing prices and performance for the tires, why not do the same for the other parts he's going to buy?

car-part.com shows 16" MGM alloy rims for as low as $65 in some cases, with the center cap most likely included. What's a steel rim plus hubcap cost?

I'm sure not everyone would agree, but I think the alloy rims outperform steelie rims in the appearance category any day. For many who run their winter setup for 3-6 months of the year, this category is not insignificant.
