Wow! When I was turning 15, my parents offered to buy me a new bike. I picked out a Schwinn Continental II in blue flake. I had it less than a month before someone stole it out of our garage.

It got replaced with a red Schwinn Le Tour IV. I did a 500 mile trip on that bike and was the fastest of our group downhill as it had steel wheels.

Casey is right ... 5 Blues at MV9. Pretty sure that 7 Blues is the record so far and it happened twice in Louisville as I recall. If I can make it back in 2012, we may be able to reach 8.

From the "Memories of MV9 ...." Thread

"67 MMs represented at the AACA Car Show: 38 Black, 14 Silver, 10 DTR, 5 Blue .... 1 Black Ford Focus, 1 Silver Crown Vic and 1 White Grand Marquis"

So far it looks like we could have 7 again at Louisville if the usual suspects, plus Gryphonzus and Joann bring hers.

Yes, only 328 Blues made.

As for members, I don't think we really know. A poll back in July 2007 showed 28 members with Blue MMs (18 Blue/Light Flint interior + 10 Blue/Charcoal interior). However, that may not show everyone ..... and since then Blues have been bought and sold and members have joined and left. You can only get a snapshot in time.

I suspect that it is less than 32 (about 10% of all Blues made).

There was a guy at MV7 that had a Blue with one of the early Triolgys installed on it (I'm thinking maybe like kit #3), and IIRC, MikeLaud had a Trilogy on his car at MV8.

As a ratio of S/C'd cars per color, the DBP has got be close to the highest percentage, and at least three of those are Eaton swaps.

Thats a loaded question because condition is everything, but IMHO a low mileage (30,000) blue with a trilogy in great condition, I would say 16-18k, but it all depends what's done to it.

The way I look at it is that all trilogy SCs are now used, and our cars are 7-9 years old depending on build dates. Would I pay what a trilogy kit costs new or more for a used kit? Never, especially since the eaton swap option is out there, I would think that a Trilogy would add approximately 3k to the worth of any marauder that it's installed on. Sadly, at this point in time our cars are used and not even close to new. The only value is what you are willing to pay any given marauder and the KBB value keeps dropping, so to most they are worth far less than we think.

I would say this, for a car to be an investment and appreciated, it's in mint condition and put in a museum like garage. For a car to be enjoyed, it is driven. We enjoy Marauders

In 1969, a Dodge Charger R/T with 440 cid sold for about $4,199. That car would cost $25,906 in 2011 based on 42 years of inflation alone. I saw one listed in mint condition for about $39,900 (or about 54% above straight inflation).

In 2003, a Marauder cost $35,285 (MSRP). The same car in 2011 would cost $43,419 based on inflation alone. Add another 25 years of inflation at 2.5% ($80,496) or 3.0% ($90,910). If you could sell a mint Marauder at 54% over inflation, it would be worth somewhere between $124K-140K in 2036. Let's split the difference and say $132,000. Deflating that back to 2003, your net profit before inflation is $14,482 or about $438 per year for 33 years (about $1.20 per day) assuming it costs you nothing to store, maintain, check and service the car over 33 years (we know that ain't so). Doesn't hardly seem worth it does it? By driving it, I am certainly having more fun than $438 each year. Certainly more fun than $1.20 per day. :D

BTW --- Dodge made 89,199 Chargers in 1969 alone. Mercury only made 11,052 for the combined 2003-2004 MM run. So theoretically, the Marauder in mint condition should be worth proportionately more than the Charger.

Do I think any of this will happen? Who knows ..... send me a postcard "In Care Of" ..... I'll either be 86 or not. ;)

I am sure that there is a flaw in my logic somewhere :o But the point is like Pony Up said ...... drive it and enjoy it !!!
