Hello all,
I hope the collective can help me out on an issue I am having with my MM's electrical system. While I was in the hospital several weeks ago, my wife drove my MM for several days. It died on her and needed towed home. After I got out of the hospital I started looking at what the trouble could be, all the information I could get from her was the battery light came on and them after a while the car quit. My battery is rather old so I purchased a new battery and installed it, then fired her up. The voltmeter showed the system was discharging, pulling ODB II codes showed a P0622, figuring the only other thing it could be was the alternator/regulator I picked up a junkyard (I have been off work for several weeks due to illness and cannot afford even a new reman-alternator) unit from an 05 crown victoria police car. I had to modify the fan shroud a bit to get the thicker alternator to fit but it eventually fit and would work. Some additional need to know information is I have a trilogy supercharger so my alternator is flipped backwards and has the WOT clutch removed. so getting the 200 amp police alternator to fit was not too problematic. Anyway after putting the junkyard alternator on the car, I still show a discharge. Can anyone give me some pointers or tell me anything I can use to diagnose this issue, I doubt the police alternator and my factory alternator are both defective and the battery is brand new. I cannot really afford to buy a new alternator, so I need to make very sure that is the issue, then try to save up some money to buy one. Any help greatly appreciated. Thankx in advance!
