That is truly slick! It's depressing that this concept was not pursued during production of the MK VIII, but even worse is that by '98 they had done a good job of refining the Mark and in pure Ford fashion when they get something right they discontinue it. Sigh...

I like Mark VIIIs. In Sept 1995 I rented one during a business trip in Dallas and was REALLY swept off my feet. The same night I got there, I took it to Ennis and ran it 3 times before having to return to Dallas for overnight work. Damned thing ran 15.2@94 mph! I beat Car and Driver's results by 2 tenths and 2 mph.

I've got about a half-roll of film of me doing a huge smokey burnout with that thing, taken by a co-worker.

That's a classic and beautiful car with the top down. I enjoyed seeing the beast! Thanks for the pictures of days gone by!

ps - that's what a 2 door convertible Marauder could look like. :)

Dennis, I'm waiting for you to come up with a mod to turn our MM's into convertibles! Of course, I would never be able to get it away from Dawn. She has wanted a convertible for a long time.

Only Bill Ford Jr's wife knows where the Marauder convertable concept is:) Everyone thinks it's burnt or crushed while she complains about that "thing" sitting in her garage...

"There was ONE extra space for MY stuff and you put ANOTHER damn car there!!!"
