Who else besides Stainless Works makes fully mandrel bent cat back exhaust systems for our MMs? I talked with Magnaflow today and they only sell mufflers, and cannot supply full systems for MMs.

They are also custom fit and hand built to each vehicle besides the over axle pipes. The OP is looking for a place to buy from, he would have to drive all the way up here to get his system done by MBS.

Right. I need them to be shipped to Central Florida

Looks like the SW kit might be your only choice for a cat-back but it would still need to some fab work to mount up to the stock exhaust if that's what you have.

Magnaflow makes a cat back for a Vic, it can be "adjusted" to fit.

Fab work from the X pipe to the cats? What if I remove the rear cats?

If you're still stock then you have the stock manifolds that go into "downtubes" which have 2 cats on each side. The first set sits directly behind the exhaust manifold, the 2nd set sit just in front of the transmission. If you remove the rear cats you would still have to fab something up to work. SW mid-pipe is 3", the stock pipe in that area is 2.25 or 2.5" I believe.

Thanks for that, Birdman. What if I leave the rear cats on? Do I still have additional fab to do? Is it simpler?

SW makes two cat-back kits, one with two cats the other is off-road with no cats.

Neither will directly bolt up to your exhaust since both are designed to fit with the SW headers with catted lead pipes or without catted lead pipes.

Who ever you take it to have it put on they will have to make a flared adapter to go from your tiny exhaust 2.25-2.5" (can't remember) pipe to SW 3" mid-pipe.

I spoke with MBS a month or so ago (can't remember specifically but is Greg ringing a bell???), and the gentleman said he could ship a "basic" over-axle kit that would have to be custom fitted by a local exhaust shop (i.e., NOT bolt-on/up) because every marauder he has done has been a bit different here or there. That is an option.

Go with the SW kit and have the shop make the adapter, best way to go, all mandrel bent 304L stainless steel.

I'm looking into your full set for my 04 Crown Vic and I would like to know if there was a way to eliminated the polish tips. I would like to keep the factory curve tucked under the bumper look. Thanks.

Greg at MBS could do the over axle for you and then do 2.5" turn-downs probably.

Thanks for that. I did order the SW off road kit and my muffler shop says he will have no problem adapting my stock exhaust manifolds to the kit. I'm also removing the rear cats at the same time.

Does anyone know if the SW tips are the same length as the MEGS tips? The SW tips aren't folded over at the end like the factory tips and I may want to use them instead of the tips in the SW kit. I bought a brand new pair of 3 1/2 tips with Res delete from another forum member last month.

Thanks, that's exactly the same length as the factory 3 1/2 tips so, I can use whichever one I like better. :D

Dont the SW Long tube headers bolt up to the stock exhaust or at least can be?? If so then the SW cat back should be able to fit the stock cats with minor tweaking

It doesn't quite work that way. The S&W headers will bolt up to the stock exhaust system if you buy their off-road (cat bypass) pipes or their hi flow cats. But, their cat back exhaust system is designed to work with their headers and aftermarket cats, not with the factory primary cat coming off the stock manifolds. A pipe has to be made by the user to go from the first stock cat to the first exhaust pipe in their system. It's a very easy pipe for a muff shop to make, though.

I had the complete SW cat back off road system installed today and it went on well but needed some tweaking to really be right. I had the rear cats removed and my muffler man had to fab a pipe to go from the forward SW 3" head pipe to the rear of the front cat which was about 2 1/4".

The sound is great with almost no drone except just a slight bit when the motor is loaded at very low RPM. But, at any cruising speed from 30 up it's almost noise free in the cockpit. When power is applied the sound is mellow and gets louder as the RPM climbs. At full throttle it growls loudly. Just what I was hoping for.

Here are some quick pics I took. I have to go back tomorrow and have the clamps near the drive shaft turned around so the drive shaft can come down when the car is on the lift with the rear wheels hanging. I'm also going to lower the tips another fraction of an inch out back.

All in all I'm happy with the SW kit. :D

Oh nice!!!!

This is exactly what I would like to do on mine.

What was the cost from SW?

Edit: get that thing on a dyno! I'd love to see if there is any difference.
