I'd like to upgrade my headlights and foglights. Currently I have stock. Looking for something brighter but don't want to blind the crap out of oncoming traffic. Looking for crisp white. Classy crisp :) with matching foglights?
Any previous threads I can be pointed to or suggestions?
TIA!

Ddmtuning.com hid kit for $70 lifetime warranty. If you want light hint of blue get 6k or if you just want pure white get 5k. Then remove your foglight wires and send then to fastblackmerc he will then return you a 5 or 6k light with your modded foglight wire

I can get you either a 5k or 6k HID kit for the fogs & headlights.
You'd be surprised at the difference over the stock lights.
This is the link for the fogs.

Headlights you can do yourself or send them to me.

Let me know how much on a set of 8k with new fogs. I will be doing this soon

You might as well leave the stock bulbs in if you are going to go with 8K. Anything over 6K is purely just for color.
4300-4500k is 3x brighter (4300k is factory vehicle HID equipped K temp)
5000k is 2.5x brighter
6000k is 2x brighter
8000k is 1.5x brighter
Brighter than the halogen 900-1200 lumens measurable light output.

Personally I wouldn't go over 6k.
Here is a good reference of HID color pictures / charts.

Neither would I. I had 6000k in the MM and switched to 5000k and it was a huge difference for the better.

In reference for 5K color spectrum, I will say it has more of a blue tone to it then my silverstars did.

I have 4300k and it is paper white. Much brighter than my previous (accidental) 6000k.
I would have gone with 3000k if they were legal.

4300-4500k is the color temp range you want for the brightest light output in a headlight. Only reason why 3000k is good is for driving lamps or fog lights as the color does cut through fog a lot better than white light as it does not reflect back as much of the same color. A lot of euro cars and rally cars run the 3000k color lighting as a secondary lighting source along with the first (headlight) lighting source.
This would be based upon a standard 35watt HID system.

just get Philips X-treme Power bulbs and a relay harness. the stock headlight wiring will power only a relay so your LCM will last forever and your bulbs will have a larger guage wire going directly from the battery to the bulb. you'll get over 13.5 volts to the bulbs and will be way brighter than stock.
you won't blind anyone as you'll still have a 9007 bulb made for the stock housing.

According to the link provided:
Designed for 9004 and 9007 halogen bulbs. To get maximum power from your headlights it is recommended to have the shortest possible distance between the power source and the bulbs. Our headlight harness draws power directly from the battery, through the relays, to the headlights; providing full power to your headlight bulbs.

instead of running all the power through the stock wiring from the battery through switch, LCM and back to the headlights in puny wiring... use that to power a relay only. Run larger wire from the battery through the relay to the bulbs to minimize the voltage drop. Headlamp bulb light output is severely compromised with decreased voltage. The drop in light output is not linear, it is exponential with the power 3.4.
Output for a 1000 lumen bulb at voltage:
10.5V : 510 lumens
11.0V : 597 lumens
11.5V : 695 lumens
12.0V : 803 lumens
12.5V : 923 lumens
12.8V : 1000 lumens ←Rated output voltage
13.0V : 1054 lumens
13.5V : 1198 lumens
14.0V : 1356 lumens ←Rated life voltage
14.5V : 1528 lumens
I measured 12.1 volts to the stock bulb connector. After I did the wiring upgrade, I measured 13.8 volts to the connector.
