It's really interesting to look at the original Marauder concept car to see the changes made before production. This thread shares pictures from glommed off the Wieck Media website of the concept car. Cool stuff!!

This first picture shows a rear 3/4 shot of the concept car. This car doesn't have the chrome strip on the side seen in other shots. Note that the exhaust tips seem smaller than those on production MM's. The wheels are different, and it appears that this car may have different size front tires from the rears, like our cars do. The other pics the car appears to have the same size tires all around. Also note the "Marauder" on the back of the car is different.

This shot of the Marauder concept car shows the chrome strip around the body. There also appears to be a chrome strip around the back window. Also not the lack of "Marauder" on the rear bumper.

This close up of the rear bumper shows the original concept for the "Marauder" logo. No market for SS Inserts with this idea.

Close up of the Marauder concept wheel. No god's head.

This interior shot of the dash shows a lot of differences. No gages on the console, but check out the gages in the dash! Also, the chrome strip along the dash instead of the dot matrix version, chrome around the shifter. The radio head is different, though its not the regular Ford radio head offered in the GM, a different Alpine head maybe. Also note there's no fuel door button. I see something down where our OP and Volts gages are, but can't make out what it is. Also note the cheap logo in the steering wheel.

Another view of the front interior. Note the seats are not the same and the carpeting seems some odd, crappy grey.

A shot of the rear interior. Again, the seats are different. Notice the console has a/c vents for rear passengers.

This shot is from the convertible concept car showing the Eaton supercharger. This is in the category of "hey, this may be what we'll see in the 2005."

Donny - Thanks for posting the pictures. The changes on the production Marauder are an improvement. IMO.

Looks like an SOHC engine in there, no?

No idea what that thing down by the console is...

That gage cluster looks awfully familiar... I can't put my finger on it.

BTW: our MM's have rear A/C ducts too, no?

Mine does not.

This picture is not my car (my digital camera is half an hour away at the union office), but you can see from this one for sale on ebay (2003 MM) there is no rear a/c vent in the console on this car, either.

I was under the impression those little slats at the bottom of the console rear were said ducts... I based this assumption on some literature I *thought* I had read. I'm not sure how they work but I have felt some cool air emitting from mine during A/C operation. Was I dreaming?

My Taurus had the vents, so when I saw nothing similar on the MM, I assumed there were none. You're usually on the beam with these things.

At any rate, it's kinda a "stealth" vent, no?

At the NY Auto Show they had the convertable concept. Does any body have pictures of that car. It was way cooler than the four door. I wish they would come out with a car like that. It would really be a throw back to the 60's type big a$$ muscle cars.

I was also wondering about those wheels, I like them.
Maybe cause they're concept wheels they are not available to the public.

Steve - You are correct there are ducts at the rear of the console the emit heat or a/c as per your setting.

You are absolutely correct about this. Today I stuck my hand behind the console and could feel the slats... and there was warm air blowing out. I had the climate control on "floor" and the manual fan setting.

Still, it is interesting to see how Mercury originally had the console set up. I rather like the newer design... the slates are much better looking than that bulging vent setup on the concept car.

Had to re-read your first two sentences once or twice... being kind of tired, I misread the word "slats" as some other word... wow, one letter off and the meaning changes SO MUCH.
