:burnout:Two days ago my youngest daughter (she is a teacher of special education teachers) came to me and said one of the schools she works at had their holiday sponser pull out from sponsering the school this year. (Did I say SHELL) There are 240 students mostly 4-6 year olds. Yes it is a special school for lower income families.
WOw 240 children that may not get a gift or the gift they would like.
My daughter went on Facebook and told her friends about the situation and contacted the teachersof 4 of the class rooms.
She has had a slow response but people are helping.
The wife and I usually try to help about 4-6 families during the holidays and we decided to adopt a class for the holidays.
There are 18 children and 2 teachers. The teachers persented us with a list of the #1 thru #3 toys, the shoe sizes and the cloths sizes for all the class.
I am not bragging (just stating facts) we have been buying toys and stuff for 3 days for them. So far 10 bikes, 8 dolls and a bunch of other stuff these children would not have recieved. S far we have bought over 30 toys and games.
I just want you to know what a wonderful feeling this has giving to Karen and I have. God has blessed us and we would like to throw out an challege for all who can help others to do so. Thanks in advance, Barry
We do Toys for Tots here at the store. Response has been slow but the box does have quite a few toys in it. Seems we went out and bought them.
Great job on you are doing and thanks for caring! We need more people like you!!!!!:)

I volunteer year-round with our police department.
We've had a bicycle refurbishment program for the last 3 years. We have repaired / refurbed well over 1,000 bikes.
The repaired bikes are given to local churches and charities for distribution.
We have also given 30 bikes to the military. Those bikes where shipped to Iraq for use by the Iraqi police force.
It's a good feeling to know that a bike you fixed is going to a single parent so they can now get back and forth to work, or that it will be a gift for a deserving child on Christmas morning.

Tots for tots is big here, and local Christian charities have several ways to donate gifts for local kids. Don't forget the food. 1 in six children live in poverty and go to bed hungry. Keep it local, Ozark Food Harvest is the local food bank here.
I'm sure each of your communities have a local charity. Find a way locally to donate food. I mostly donate locally. Nationally, I "Dump a buck" whenever I hear and see those bell ringers, I believe they do good work.
Anyone who is so fortunate, has a responsibility to pass it forward to an unfortunate soul, they really do appreciate it.

Everything ready, worked on getting them w***** and names on them until 2 AM this morning. The teachers will be picking the gifts up at noon today. Due to the cost of the bikes some children will be getting two toys. Had to equal it out for them. What a job. I feel so blessed and happy. Wish everyone could help someone. The teacher is bringing a trailer to haul it in to the school.

So often people miss the true spirit if the holiday season, which is giving. What a great holiday story, way to go.
I volunteer on the Atlanta Community Food Bank year round, and it always amazes me the things that we take for granted because we gave them.

The teachers (with a trailer) picked up the goodies today. They were crying and gave really real hugs. 45 childern will have a happier holiday and I am so proud to help them.
I almost feel like giving Mike back his blue. But that would make me have a sad holiday.
Thanks for your responses and the caring you have biven to your comunities during the year.
