Ive been wondering for awhile on which intake would be better for and 04 marauder but havent really had any luck. I have however been interesting in getting a JLT intake but not sure if that would be the right choice. So can anybody tell me the difference from K&N and JLT or which other intake is best?

It really depends on your wallet and appearances. They basically do the same thing.

They pretty much completely do the same thing. Unless you need the look of a one-piece mold, go JLT.

Depends on what you're looking for.
If it's a performance increase you're looking for, stay with the OEM intake, it was designed by Rousch and is gonna be pretty hard to beat as far as air flow. The OEM filter also flows real well, but they're getting hard to find, so if the filter element needs replacing, go with a K&N drop in element.
If you're looking for increased intake sound under WOT, either the JLT or the K&N will do a good job.
If you're going for looks, the K&N is prolly better looking, but costs more.
Relative to the first point above, if you want to increase performance, contact Lidio for a tune, best bang for the buck, hands down.

This point deserves consideration as well. If you are the industrious type, you can try to remove the intake snorkel/muffler and cap off that opening, I haven't seen it done yet personally but I imagine it would increase the intake sound volume AND keep you from having to spend big bucks hunting down high HP increases that aren't there.

Yup, it does increase the sound substantially. I had a PHP CAI on my car prior to the Eaton swap, but had retained the OEM intake tube. Pulled off the snorkle and replaced it with a flat plug (tip of the hat to Joe Walsh for the plug) and it definitely increased intake volume at WOT.

I think most prefer JLT. However, if you are in Cali., K&N is the only legal choice.

Cut off the closed end of the snorkel and use it to plug the hole.

While the K&N is a certainly a quality piece, JLT is a vendor here and deserves our support, especially since his CAI does the exact same thing, and costs less to boot.

hhmm thanks guys this actually got me thinking now..i have heard that JLT works best for a marauder rather than an intake..but now that i heard of the OEM filter im kinda interested in that..i mean i do like getting performance no matter what. So i practically am new to this site and everything n ive been wanting a marauder since thelongest and now that i got in september i am looking to do some modifications of my own now thats in storage for the winter. once again thanks

If you want a performance free flowing intake upgrade go with JLT. K&N is a better fit and finish piece but JLT has become a well known name in the Ford game with their intakes.
The stock zip tube does not outflow JLT's 4" tube or K&N's tube. The restriction is at the filter and the stock air box.

True, that. The smooth tubes on both the LT and K&N is an improvement over the OEM muffled tube.

This is probably a good reason why I'd like to go with JLT..that and because I've heard ILT performs a bit better than K&N
So let me ask this..if I get the JLT painted Like this...would I lose any performance stock, or possibly getting restricted from getting other BETTER upgrades?

JLT - Killer price, sounds friggin awesome, but a few angles and turns.
K&N - Expensive, sounds okay, smooth flowing lines.
I ran both, they each had (to me) great qualities. So I combined them. :)
You need parts from both to do it, tho. Cost wise, and freight train sound, go for the JLT.

Would be easier to just move the 21 in front of Marauder.... "21Marauder" then it's spelled right and every one will stop pointing it out and asking him if he realized its spelled wrong.

Yeah, guess I wasn't clear. :o
It's my understanding that the OEM air box flows pretty good especially with the OEM filter element.
The OEM intake tube is configured to muffle sound vs. provide smooth air flow, so that's what I was referring to.
So I guess what I was trying to say is that it's the intake tube, rather than the air box/filter that'll prolly give some performance improvement, but the actual increase noted is not going to be huge, IMO.

When I went to the JLT my MM had no other mods and there was a real seat of the pants difference and I did not believe there would with just a CAI. I did make some changes to JLT. I painted all the stainless clamps black (the stainless clamps looked kinda cheesy to me) and I trimmed the under side of the rubber tube that connects the intake to the main tube so I could lower it and not have it rub the hood. It now sounds great and looks great also. I have since added 4.10s and a tune which is what the car needed all along.

You should get a Tornado intake. They have proven dyno results, and the Marauder is at the top of the list due to it's 4 valves per cylinder.

K&N has been around a whole lot longer than JLT which was started by ONE man who has built up company of products that don't rape your wallet and have proven to produce the same if not more power for a lesser price.
The K&N is not "extra couple dollars" it's close to being twice as much as the JLT. Sure the fit and finish is nicer, some of us don't really care. Don't see K&N offering custom painted tubing for their customers kits.... nope.
Exactly how long have you owned your Marauder?
How about you kick out the extra couple bucks and go with SW headers which most says fit better and produce more power?
