Be prepared to open your checkbook. The crate motor is $14k, add a few k for installed.

Unless you're on a show circuit, I wouldn't bother. Just slap a supercharger on a $4k Marauder motor. :)

thanks for replying so fast logan. ok i'll take one to go. just kidding. wow thats alot of loot. i'am willing to shell out some money for performance but not add ons. i'd rather go for a new engine naturally asperated all the internalls done. maybe a cobra engine soup to nuts. so what do you think. i figure if your going to spend 5000 for a sc get the engine complete without the sc to give you at least 400hp. thanks again

You can get your current engine stroked to 5.0 Both VTengines and SHM offer this.

I would stay away from boost with a stoker though. The pistons used in these have a reduced packaging for the ring landings. They are easier to break under boost.

well, i just spoke to ford about a cammer engine and they want to give me the engine for free as long as i use them as a spoke person with a 60,000 pay check. just kidding. i spoke to a rep and they asked a lot of bull*hit questions.so they told me to go to the dealer near my neighborhood. i left my email just incase.

Well my boss has a friend who has 15-20, ZZ 502/502 crate carb to pan complete with starter, of course you would need advance adapters to hook up a tranny as that is a GM engine. Anyhow $4,700.00 and you too can have one.

I fully agree w/Logan. 14k is alot of $$ to spend for such a relatively small performance gain. Do you realize what a competent engine builer can do w/your engine for well under 10K??? You can get a whole lot more HP than what the cammer engine offers for a whole lot less$$. I understand your concern about a warantee, but are you really willing to spend 7 or 8K extra cash to get a performance gain that won't even be as great as that of a supercharger or engine rebuild just to have a waurantee?? Just something for you to think about.........

maybe its not the warranty but maybe to have an engine made by the factory and not one put together by ? and then not knowing if they will back up the engine incase something goes on it.

Hi performance usually = no warranty. I don't blame the manufacturers either. I mean even whenyou own it and you drive it like a rental and you want a warranty?? It ain't gonna happen

On the other side if you want 600 RWHP go to DR with a stocker and for about 20K you will get a great package that has some reasonable reliability.

S/C Kit, includes bigger injectors, Larger capacity fuel delivery system, all thye rest of the upgrades to support the power

Long Block built to take the 20 psi boost, crank, rods, pistons, oil pump, porting and polishing, etc.

Transmission to live behingd that kinda power

Gears, sway bar

Dyno tuned and ready to FLY!!

Just to give you another viewpoint.......in just about any given state, there can be found local engine builders who build everything from daily drivers to funny car engines. If you find one of these guys (and they aren't all that hard to find) then you can be assured that they're competent enough to build you a 400-500HP engine that will hold up if they can build racing engines that can. And I agree w/the point made about getting a waurantee on a hi-perf engine. It's rare that you'll find that for engines that exceed 350 HP because the manufacture knows that if you want more HP than that, then you're going to be driving it real hard. If you do find a waurantee for an engine like that, then it's definately gonna cost you some big $$$$.But paying all that extra cash doesn't mean that the engine in question is built any better, or that it will hold up any better than the engine w/out the waurantee, because basically, you're spending the extra cash for the waurentee itself. Therefore you're in essence paying for a second rebuild weather it ever needs it or not. Thus 14K for the Cammer engine. I can assure you that you don't have to spend 14K or 20K for a well built motor that will make 500HP or less. There are also plenty of national online engine building places that build racing engines/crate motors too. Use www.dogpile.com to find what you need. I see that your in New York, so here's a head start for you incase you decide to use my suggestions: Bill Mitchell Racing, Ronkonkoma, NY.......... JPM Engine Rebuilding inc., Newburgh,NY.......... Campbell Engines,Dansville, NY.

BillyGman is absolutely correct. There are lots of very competant engine builders around the US. And the engine its self isn't that expensive by its self. It is all the rest of the equipment that is needed to support that engine and get it running to its potential and the other components reliably. Major key word is reliability. It is fairly easy to build an engine that will make a lot of horsepower but, to do it and to get reliability also is always the secret in hi performance.

thanks for the help Billygman ,Grey it all sounds good. and your right about a warranty. iam sure i can find some one to do what i want. as for hp i am 43 and married i am lookng for something for me. all i do is 7000miles a year. the rest is done by my truck. the rest, the special one stays in the garage. its a thing for me. WITH A WARRANTY.

I originally bought the GreyGhost for my wife but, I couldn't keep my hands off of it so she said it was mine. She would like to have her own. Maybe an MM, maybe a MKVIII. I am suppose to be semi retired :-D bought the car 11/21 and it will go over 7000 mi on the way back from DRs next Thurs. I gotta start parking it so I don't burn it up. It will be a couple of years before I complete the project.
