What is the source of the battery?

There are some batteries out there that are known for developing internal shorts completely out of the blue. If you are talking about a small round sticker with the 9/10 on it then yes that means that the battery was made in Sep 2010, and yes a quality battery should last much longer than slightly over a year. The best batteries overall are those made by Johnson controls and among those the ones carrying the Motorcraft, DieHard, or Interstate brands seem to be the best of the best.

Interstates are usually pretty good so it isn't likely that it is the problem but it is still a possibility. A serious short could also be the problem. So you need to charge the battery and let it set disconnected and see if it can hold a charge for a day or two.

If you bought it from a interstate dealer then it should be under warranty. Do you have any paperwork for it?

Anytime we used interstate batteries on our trucks they failed within a year. I would never use a interstate battery in anything I own. Even their AA batteries suck.

I replace a lot of Interstate with Deka, in a tropical marine environment they don't seem to hold up nearly as well.

The battery is probably toast.

Go to your local auto parts store and get a fresh battery.

Ask them to test the alternator while you are there just for good measure.

I had a 7 year old walmart battery in my truck when I bought it.....it gave up the ghost that summer and I didnt have any paper work on it as it came with the truck when I bought it.... it had a 3 year free replacement warranty and a 10 year prorated warranty.
I took it to walmart and they took it back and gave me a new one, but prorated the old one with just sticker on the battery. Only saved about 15 bucks but that still 15 bucks I didnt have to spend.

When you get the battery charged again take it to a FLAPS and see if they can check your charging system. The same FLAPS should also be able to test your battery for you and see if it is still good....but they will likely need the battery over night.

You can always take your chances on continuing to usie a bad battery and try to eek another few days out of it.

Then, when you go to WOT and the electrical system is power starved and you get a lean condition and pop a motor you won't have to worry about the battery.

Oh wait....

Says you live in Texas, I doubt it gets that cold out there where your engine shouldn't turnover. We get minus below out here and my car still turns on after it sat a few days, I don't know jus sayin!

Your battery is probably tired and needs a nap.

A dirt nap.

I would get a second opinion on your battery. For a proper test they need to charge it and drain it and charge it again and then test the load on it.....could be a bad cell.

Or there is current draw on the electrical system.

Check the battery fluid level in the battery, if it needs water only add distilled water, not tap water and level out the water in each cell.

Maybe cause of the fact i didnt turn it on in 2 days and its cold.. The Blackbird sits for weeks at a time and always starts right up. If your battery goes dead after 2 days, either there's a significant parasitic drain or the battery's just plain bad.

Maybellene just sat for 3 weeks and the Motorcraft battery cranked up like I drove it the day before.

If the battery tests good on a LOAD test, then I'm with Spectragod, there is something significant draining it.

I just called a ford dealer yesterday. They gave me a few quotes for motorcraft Btx 65-650 for 109.95 & Btx 65-750 or 850 for 119.95. What dealer & how long ago did you get your battery ?

all the little holes needed water (6 of them) so i leveled all of them lets see if thats the problem...

My 03 just went through something kinda similar. For a while now it had been cranking kinda slow but would always crank over. I tested the voltage after sitting and it would usually be fine, even took it to have the battery checked and it said fine. Then finally the other night after the car sat outside for 3 hours (even though it usually sits outside for 8+ a night and starts right up) it wouldn't start. I checked voltage and it was still 12.2, but was acting dead as could be. Jumped it and it went up to 14.2 volts. Drove to the autoparts store again the next day and had them check. This time it showed replace battery. It was factory original 650 CCA, and when tested showed 215CCA. I replaced it with a motorcraft 850 for $121 after core deposit. Have always had good luck with Motorcraft batteries. Car now starts up 10000% better.
I have been down the advance auto parts/autozone replacement battery route and will never do it again. No matter the price. Having had 3 different advance auto top of the line batteries, all went out in less than 6 months, and none would they warranty. They said the battery read good, however as soon as was replaced it fixed the problem. Eventually replaced with motorcraft and didn't have a problem for the following 3 years I owned the car.
