I know this has been discussed before but i just want a "final say".
I'm at a crossroads between the KYB Gas-a-just front/rear shocks and the Monroe Gas Magnum Severe Service front/rear shocks.
KYB all around: $493.76
Monroe all around: $275.96
Does the amount of difference between the two out-weigh the nearly $220. I am also getting new MOOG springs which just so happen to cost $220. (I am aware that the search function is my friend. Les just let it slide this time.:))

I'm running Monroe Severe Service on all four corners and am pleased with the performance.
IMO, firm, but not harsh ride. Can't beat 'em for the price.

I am also running the Monroe Severe Service on my Car this is the third set of struts installed on my car @ 75K. The other two set were Motorcraft from ford. I am the one that installed Cheesehead and like the ride so that is why I have them know. Also if i have a concern lifetime replacement unlike the motorcraft only 12/12 warranty. I looked at the KYB also but I found the same price difference and had to be order. I think you will like the ride of the Monroe’s. Russ

I run KYB on front, paid about $88 each, and Monroe severe on the rear about $40 each, handles great no problems.

If you dont mind me asking. Where did you find KYB's for $88?

Went with Ford on the rear of the SB but really didn't need to just did it as the rear was all apart so seemed like a reasonable thing to do after 100K+ miles. Fronts are still the OEM.
Are the Moog springs OEM height or are they going to lower the front. I hear the KYB's work well with lowered front springs.
My dad used to call KYB's the poor mans Koni's.
Like Goodyear tires I've had poor success with Monroe in the past.:twocents:

Amazon has great deals. I always buy directly from Amazon and not the other stores on there. Some may have a better price than directly through Amazon but watch the shipping dates.

IIRC the MOOG 80668 is a directly OE replacement for Marauder front springs.

For me personally then I'd go with the OEM Tokiko's and upgrade the swaybars with Addco's and grab some new control arms and Watt's links from Sparta.:)

I'm in pretty bad need of shocks too at 85,000 miles. Subscribing.

I cant find an online dealer with Tokico ASH-83/84. Do you have to call to order these directly from the company?

I've got Motorcraft all around.
Still using my front struts and replaced the rears after one of the Monroe shocks started leaking.

Interesting thread. I will be following.
I have Addcos front and rear sway bars, Zack & Macs rear control arms and Moog front end links.
I would like to eliminate a little more body roll.
Any ideas as to which shocks and springs to look for?

Solid bars in place of the struts and shocks oughta do it...
j/k ;)
IMO, for the price of the Monroe Severe Service, you can't beat 'em for shocks. Maybe go to a larger diameter sway bar on both ends and an aftermarket Watts Link?

Watt's link just keeps the rear centered. If you want less roll your going to need a stiffer spring, thicker custom swaybar as you already have the Addco or both.:)

Do our car's front struts bolt in or does the spring have to be compressed and removed as an assembly - I have a leaky front driver's strut. 42k. Is there a how to on this?

Shock/strut is removed as an assembly. Spring has to be compressed to remove the shock.
PM 03mmmonroe, he can give you the scoop.

All - Im new here, and probably dont "truly" belong as I only have a 2004 MGM GS - not a Marauder, but it's close! (....and I still want a MM one day). Just needed this for quick cheap basic transportation. Other than the front end bounce - it rides pretty good.
Anyway, given a bone stock GS with 103K miles, Id like to make a few changes and updates to the car:
1) Either Marauder or CV P71 suspension upgrades. Ive just ordered a set of KYB gas-a just shocks (front and rear, for Marauder - not GS) to replace VERY soggy shocks (the car bounces like a hyperactive child on a bouncy ball). They should go right on, right? Is that pretty much it, or are there other changes I should make to bring handling mroe in lnie with a MM?
2) Does that car have struts or shocks? Believe it or not, I've gotten several different answers from different sources. I even got different answers between 2 local Ford dealers.
Im not aware of the subtle differences between MGMs and MMs, so any wisdom you can impart is gratefully accepted!
Thanks in advance, kutlass69
For now, that's pretty much it

Heavier sway bars, control arms and Watts link will make a big difference in handling.

Purchased a full set of the KaYaBa's from Just Suspensions a couple months ago (was not happy with the stock shocks, only 45,000 miles and they were too harsh).
Finally got a chance to get the full set installed and then promptly took the Marauder for a 900mile trip (San Francisco and back).
The KYB's are softer, the original shocks were stiff (rode like a lowered car).
I did a little comparison (pushed down of the old and the new, side by side) and I think the original were bad (the original seemed to push in easy for an inch then started to provide dampening).
The ride is nicer now and I like the car that much more.
Now I got to track down that fricken squeak!

Just pulld the trigger on KYB's all around. Surprisingly, through amazon i only coughed up $256.65 shipped. Now if i could only find a decent deal on rear control arms. has anyone tried muslemerc's configuration?
