Hii guys,
Few days ago I took my car to a work shop because of engine vibration issue. After doing compression test, the result was 180 on all cylinders except # 8 > 120 psi & # 3 > 150 psi.The mechanic didn't recommend to bring any part until he open the engine head & check the cam valves. The car milage is 158,xxx miles. My questions:
1- What engine head parts recommended to be replaced after cutting
this distance on the car?
2- Can I use the car paint to change the cam covers color?
Thanks,,

If he's cracking the engine open. Wait to see what he says. May just need a vlave job and seats.
Don't use regular car paint. Use higher temp engine paint that resists heat and grease.

Or you could get the cam covers powder-coated.

The #3 reading is of not much concern 150 - 200 psi is the typical range depending on how strong your battery is, did the mechanic remove all 8 plugs and prop open the throttle? More important is the even readings are within 20% or so so 150 -180 is ok while the 120 psi shows trouble brewing.
Since the low cyl is #8 this is typical for problems with valve seats or guides which is known issue with the 2003-2004 DOHC engines with the #7 and #8 valves due to head casting issues.
Normally one can just remove the drivers head and fix the valves and leave the pass side head alone. To fix the problem the cooling crossover mod needs to be done. This improves the coolant flow and eliminates the hot spot.

However with 159K miles a full sort out is warranted!! If the car had been in the Kingdom most of its life it saw plenty of heat I guess!!

Thanks a lot RacerX. I hope so.
fortunately, today I found a workshop that will do the job and I'm waiting the mechanic to remove the cam covers.

that was my first think. But when I found it costly, I decided painting the existing one.

I just noticed that the painter damaged the gasket coming on PCV outlet as shown in below pic. I think this gasket is preventing oil leakage. When I went to the dealer, I didn't find part no. for it & I think it is coming with the cam cover. So, please help what to do with this?

PCV snaps in, there may be a O ring between the plastic fitting and the Valve cover It does bolt on there. PCV just snaps in place as far as I can tell
