I made it to see the car last night at the dealership. The car is safe, I'm relieved. It's going to take a couple days to get the deal done since I didn't have 11k sitting around after just buying a second marauder this summer, but he bank said the check is in mail. The owners of the dealership are nice enough to let me start working on the car to make sure I could drive it home early next week.

So far here is whats been done:

The dealership put a new Motorcraft battery in it to get it on their trailer.

The first thing I did was buy an alternator, but after closer inspection, I might not need it. RoyLPita told me to check the alternator extension splices and sure enough the wire broke clean off in my hand.

I also checked the passenger side rear window, and it's in the door:banana:, so I don't need to get a window, I'll just have to check wiring and possibly change the regulator.

That's it for now, I'm getting what I need together to go fix the wire to get the car home.

Yes my third. I have a black 03 300A with 168k as my DD, which I'm going to sell or part out, im still deciding. I was lucky enough to score NAVCHAP's blue this summer, and now this one, which I plan to make my DD.

Started the car and got 14.1 volts at the battery. SCORE ONE FOR ME!!!!! Now I could take back alternator I bought and get my $230 back

The chec also showed up at my place so I will have the car home by Tuesday at the latest

I'll try to get some pictures this weekend.... As for the warranty, it covers most of the car, I would have to look at it again to tell you specifics, but I know I looked at what it covered and I was amazed.

I drove the car home. It drove really nice, it was SOOO hard to baby it, but I want to change all the fluids and look it over really well. I'm also thinking a possible dyno test to make sure the tune is right before I beat on it.

I ran it through the car wash, but i didn't really look close at it yet. I have lots of mechanical stuff to go through, I know i need to clay bar the car, and probably buff it afterwards.... the most troubling things to me are the the trunk (terrible repaint, chipping and the worst orange peal I've ever seen) and the rear windshield (due to the antenna mounted and a hole drilled through the window)

I doubt that they drilled through tempered glass. It is probably double sided tape with a metal plate. Did you pull it off to see if the did drill it? I would almost bet money on this

Dude, pull that bastard off the inside. Bet 5 bucks its double sided tape with a metal plate in it. I have seen this many many times. Even the most skilled person would not attempt drilling through tempered "safety glass" for something as petty as a cell phone antenna, gps, etc.

A glass mount antenna uses the glass as part of the antenna's operation. There is no hole, I'll put money on it.

Any new updates on the car ?

I've been working on it, since my last update, I flushed both coolant systems with motorcraft gold coolant. I removed and reinstalled the entire interior to remove what was left of the over the top stereo system and I reinstalled the factory system with upgraded 6x8 speakers. I shampooed the carpet while it was out and cleaned everything. I ordered DBA replacement rotors with Hawk HPS pads for the Baer big brake kit from KNS brakes. I have 5 items left on my list, 1. Drop the transmission pan to replace the filter and install a drain plug. 2. Change the diff fluid. 3. Wetsand and buff the entire car. 4. Change the front door panels bc the former owner cut holes in the dot-matrix area to install component speakers. 5. Properly fix the alternator wire.

Honestly, I've been so busy with everything else i really didnt look at it closely, I will say that the trunk has been resprayed horribly and might be a replacement, and the entire body has what feels like a really bad overspray on it. It definitely needs to be wet sanded.

I spent the afternoon working on my car today. I swapped out the warped and cracked 14" drilled and slotted Baer rotors for 14" slotted DBA rotors. I painted the Baer hats before bolted them to the rotors, fixed the seized slide pins on the passenger side caliper bracket. I painted the caliper brackets and calipers then I installed Hawk HSP pads. What a difference driving the car without a vibrating steering wheel. Tomorrow I'm changing my battery cable harness and possibly something else before the Superbowl if I have enough time.

After about a month of driving the car, things were going great. Until an idler pulley self-destructed on my way home from work at 10pm Tuesday night. I repaired it enough to limp it home and i fixed it the next day, no big deal. Tonight was a huge setback, the diff decided to do it's best impression of a grenade, right in the middle of a busy intersection with no warning. I had to push the car about 1000 feet into a Lowe's parking lot. I had it towed. I'll call Ford warranty tomorrow to find out the details to get it fixed, I knew it would pay for itself, just not so soon.

Dang! Sorry to hear that, Derek, but at least it wasn't motor problems. Overall, still a great investment.

Update: I started using this MM as my DD since the beginning of Feb 2012. At the time it had 58,XXX miles on it. The only setback was having the rear rebuilt after a month of driving it and the 3 weeks to fix it under warranty. It will be turning 106,000 next week and its still running strong.

Update, in the last few weeks I finally pulled the dent in the DS fender, had it aligned, new Nitto Motivos on the front, replaced the rotted A/C dryer, had a header back exhaust system installed, and today it will get an oil change and belts.

This week I'll pass 68,000 miles since I bought it.

I hit 170,000 today. I had to change the idler pulley behind the trilogy alternator bracket. It was a pain, but I got it done in about a half hour. Not bad for taking a chance on a non-running 59,000 mile trilogy :D

I passed 210,000 miles today. The first week of January will be 7 complete years of ownership. I put approximately 152,000 miles on the car. Still the original engine with the trilogy, 2nd trans, and 4th rear. I’m averaging just over 21,000 miles a year. It needs a driver’s seat, but I really can’t complain.

Congrats buddy!
How in the world do you drive so many miles per year??
I might do 3000 per year, plus road trips.

How are the blue cars holding up?

64 Miles a day ,5 days, 320 miles a week just back and forth to work - 16,000+ miles not including going anywhere else does it for me

i haven’t updated this in a while here is a little back story and current status....

In august of 2019 at 218,xxx I replaced the s/c head unit with one from a torktech kit and rebuilt the trilogy snout, some modification was needed. I had two blowers in pieces at 4pm had to drive a 3 hour round trip to get the correct bypass shaft bearings to swap the bypass to the right side for the trilogy. I was on the road to Woodward the next day by 11am.

While the car average 22mpg at 80mph to Detroit and back, I was never happy with the way the blower sounded,I drove the car anyway since it drove fine.

In March of 2020, I took it to Florida. I noticed that the AC stopped working and the passenger front window regulator decided to quit enroute. I repaired the regulator in a parking lot and after my trip started buying parts.

I drove the car until April of 2020, the exhaust leak from the cracked headers became unbearable and I parked it.

I didn’t want to deal with the headers so it sat until April of this year. The hardware was so deteriorated the only option was to pull the engine. It took 6 hour to get the headers off the engine with the engine sitting on my tool box. I called Kooks and they ghosted me, I tried for a week to talk to someone about repairing them at my expense and the never returned a call or email after they said they could repair them a month earlier. I got them repaired by a friend that has a custom exhaust shop.

While the engine was out I dealt with the A/C... new compressor(the old one sounded bad), condenser, evaporator, and dryer... I reused the old lines after flushing them and installing new o-rings.

All the insulation on the firewall was garbage, I removed it and sprayed Lizard Skin sound and heat coatings on the firewall.

Since my engine has 235,000 mostly supercharged miles on it and it was low on compression in 2 cylinders, I wasn’t putting it back in the car. I pulled a spare engine out of storage, I installed new timing components, all new external gaskets, a new Stewart emp water pump, a new oil pan, and new motor mounts. Installed the headers with stainless hardware, bolted on the trans, and reinstalled it into the car.

I installed a new Crown Vic battery harness by moving the anchor points along the cam cover and modified it for the trilogy alternator location.

Currently, I’m waiting for my original trilogy supercharger and snout to be remanufactured with a new rotor pack and returned.. Then it will be a day to get the car running again, get the a/c charged, and work out any bugs. After it runs, I have all the parts for a suspension and brake rebuild, I also have new tires waiting, and fresh painted hood and driver side fender.
