Have you tried cleaning all of your battery terminals and connectors?
My crown vic used to seem fine radio etc other than no start. Cleaned the terminals and started right up. Used to have to do that every so often.

Some times the fuse the big green one that's to the starter blows . Could be old or not pushed in all the way.

Fuses don't generally go bad with age.

I had some bad splices in my cowl area that caused that intermittently until finally it wouldn't crank at all

In addition to cleaning the battery terminals, clean all the connections.
battery terminals
ground at the block
ground at the right side cam cover
starter connections
positive connection at the box behind the battery
ground to the right of the battery (you'll have to remove battery)

Don't remember if the doors locked/unlocked, but i know when i turned the key dash lit up like a christmas tree and everything still worked except cranking. First thing i did was check/clean battery terminals, but no go. Then i remembered having same problem with my old 69 Galaxie's neutral safety switch back in the day. Moved the gear shift lever and she fired right up. No problem since. That was miles away from home attending MV IV.

Do you have the remote start/antitheft installed? Every once in a while mine does this - turn key and no crank with all other elec working. I reset the antitheft starter interupt, it fires right up and all is good for quite a while. Good luck! :D

If you don't come up with another reasonable solution, may be worthwhile to at least have the PATS double checked by a tech. And while you're there if that's not it, have them check the PCM.
Those 2 are what my buddy's info was pointing him towards(with very similar issue to you) until I realized it was the old chip on the PCM which caused it. I'm guessing you don't have an old chip though.
Though with it being intermittent like that, the only way to find the issue may be to leave it with them and their computer for a little while.
Good luck and hope it's just something easy/cheap.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm or remote start system installed?
