How the Fastest Marauder Got a Chevie Engine

These are some before and after pics of Joe's previous Mark VIII race car. This car had about 100k into it so salvaging the engine to install in a Marauder was a no-brainer. Especially when you have three Marauders! The track this crash happened on had water seepage problems and was actually ripped up and rebuilt days after. It actually made it through the line upside down in the 13's! :eek:

Wow. What a beautiful car that Mark was. I'm glad not all was lost and most importantly. The driver was ok.

There's a reason sanctioning bodies require safety equipment. As bad as it is, imagine how things would have went without a cage, harness and helmet.

Did the track take any responsibility for the crash since there was a water problem on the track?

Nope! All that paperwork you sign to race pretty much negates any resposibility anyway. They actually ripped the whole track up within a day and redid it so the NHRA wouldn't step in. Helicopter actually landed on the track and took him to the hospital. The state police impounded the car for a bit because it is an accident. NJ...;)

Island Dragway? I've had problems in the right lane due to seepage. It was pretty scary just running 10's. Lost a round because of it too. Oof!

I won't say which race track due to the fact that I wasn't there and if it's been fixed, I have no right to say anything having never been there myself. ;) I'm going to try to hit NSH myself if the stars align. :D
