Hope he did his engineering homework. That car had no rigidity built into it. I'm not even sure it can be legally driven on the road. Babcock said something about no vin number or something to that effect at MV9. It was built to be a concept only.

While it is a concept, there will be rigidity, there is a frame under the car, it is not a uni-body. Can it be strengthened, sure, should it be.... probably.
The car has a VIN, it is for a Crown Vic, all it would take is some effort to get it titled and licensed, i.e. the Bondurant Vics were not streetable as well, but they are licensed and running the streets.
I would be more concerned that the car has no roll over protection and, not having any info on if the seat belts/airbags will work if you are in a collision. Then there's insurance, you wou want a policy that would reimburse you for the cost of the one of one car......

Watching the video, I noticed that the edge of the drivers door and the quarter panel (@ the door post area), do not line up with the rocker molding, the passenger side appears to, there is also an area at the front of the driver side rear wheel opening that appears quite wavy in the video.
I would certainly like to look the car over, I would imagine that it needs..... a top, side glass, rear seat belts, the frame reinforced, some aesthetic items taken care of, you could probably get it all done for 20-35k, it still wouldn't be worth anything and you could probably buy one of each color (with low miles) for what you would wind up with in that car.

Just seeing it run is something special; thanks for posting!
I would SO have bought one, had they ever gone into production.

Steve Babcock also stated at MV-9 the car was tuned not to go over 25 mph.

Cool!
Love the sound of the exhaust. Anyone know if that's the same stock exhaust setup as a production marauder?

That's the Marauder I wanted. Probably would have bought that over my retro TBird, but it would have taken some real soul searching.
Just don't know if I would have wanted two full size converts (64 Galaxie).
But, I'll never know.

The owner of the car at Carlisle told me he had a Ford tech change the tune and the car runs and drives normally.
No top on the car and he said its runs very strong. Just not legal to drive in the street and for $75K, I would expect to make appearances with it at my local car meets.

Hmm. I have always disliked that car in every way along with all convertables for that matter.
BUT, after seeing it actually move, I kind of dig it now.

Let's buy a Marauder and make it into a wagon.

Steve Babcock said the frame would probably bend if you went over a railroad track to fast. They didn't build any rigidity into it after they cut off the roof. Probably explains the gaps you saw in the video.
No roof at all just a fiberglass boot where the top would go if it had one.

Saw this car on a revolving turntable at a NY AutoShow.
Loads of lookers (maybe it was the good looking female model?), but, when I was there, it took a lot of attention away from the 4 dr MM that was parked in the Merc display area.
Might have just been timing.
A year earlier, the Merc display had an MM sedan with all the doors locked so no one could "try it on". And, you could see where the car's rear quarter had been repainted; even the gas cap paint looked more like the original than the quarter panel.
Same show, little kids were sitting in the back of Asian luxury cars playing with anything they could grab.
IMHO, not the best way to market the car in a major autoshow.

Just think what one of those would be like with some hi-po tweaks to the engine. Even a 2V with a little work to the SC set up and good performance tune should be able to crank 400+ HP, I guess we can only imagine...:cool4:
