Has anybody ever done or heard of a kit? Not a cheap cover but a real kit that goes under the existing leather?

I think it would be cost prohibitive.
The parts are cheap. A lot of labor involved.

There would be nothing sweeter than a heated stearing wheel durring the winter months.

What parts?
The heating coil, switch, how do you get the wires from the steering wheel to the switch?
Then you need to take the leather off and have it reapplied after you install the heating coil.
How else do you plan to do it?

I thought of inventing something like this, I use to get angry when ever I sat in the car and the steering wheel was freezing

I rented a Buick with this feature. Mass in january, hopped in started the car threw on the heated seats and steering wheel, then was off. Didn't even have to warm the car up to be comfy.

It would be neat if maybe someone could make a slip on steering wheel type cover that had the heating coil in it, and was say powered off watch batteries..don't know how long it would last or whatever but I bet you could sell it on tv lol

watch batteries wont produce enough amperage. i dont think there are any batteries, small enough, that have the amp hours(ah) that would be needed to keep it warm for a decent amount of time. maybe a aux plug going to the cigarette lighter outlet, and coiled up wire(like a telephone wire is) would be your best bet.
to me, i dont like this idea....just seems useless...if i was that concerned about my steering wheel being warm when i get it my car, id get a remote start and warm the car up before i got in it. --whitey
