I blew a spark plug out of the head. I got it fixed using the time cert kit and it runs great but now it has a very loud ticking noise. What could be the problem? The car has 145xxx mi. Thanks

This was the end result after my spark plug shot out.

It sounds like something is broken. I would check that the correct spark plug was used. See it is not making contact with the piston. Pick up a light scope look in the cylender. Do a compression & leak down test.

What was the problem and how did you fix it?

What was the problem and how did you fix it?

Driving it with the plug out and the injector still dumping fuel into the cylinder. I heard a very loud "pop" which was when it finally ignited the gas and detonated since the plug was still hooked to the coil and hanging above the hole. The result was a broken piston and I had to get my engine torn down and repaired. A compression test will reveal how bad it is.

Sounds depressing :bigcry:

I can imagine this set you back some big bucks.

I'm saving to fix my head tick now. However, my tick is not near as bad as yours. My compression is down on the affected cylinder, #6.

now I'm really depressed. My tick is from #1 cyl. Might be time to fix and sell
